In my previous post about Four Roses Bourbon in Cox's Creek KY - Largest Barrel in the World? I described the 2-story bourbon barrel that I came across on my way to a short sale listing in Shepherdsville KY The friendly guard couldn't wait to show me the motorcycle made of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, shown here in the photo. He also told me about tours of the warehouse facilities located in Cox’s Creek, Kentucky, which is approximately a one hour drive from the actual Distillery. Call 502-543-2264 for more information. Warehouse tours are free of charge and by appointment only.

I was on my way to a short sale listing in Shepherdsville KY when I zipped by a 2 story high barrel glistening in the sun. I knew I needed a picture of this phenomenon, so I pulled in to what turned out to be the parking lot of Four Roses Bourbon warehouse facilities located in Cox’s Creek, Kentucky. The tour center was closed, but the friendly guard came out to greet me. He told me about tours of the warehouse facilities located in Cox’s Creek, Kentucky, which is approximately a one hour drive from the actual Distillery. Call 502-543-2264 for more information. Homeowners are hurting. Housing values collapsed. Jobs are evaporating. Bill collectors are calling and suing. Sellers Try To Help - Banks Demand Deficiency Homeowners are pursuing short sales which help the bank reduce their losses. In return some banks demand the sellers stay obligated on large deficiencies. Homeowners Didn't Cause This Crisis and Have Few Options But, homeowners are pushing back. Just this week a short sale client literally said “if the lender wants the deficiency they can take a number and stand in line.” He also said he’s “that close” to bankruptcy and if the lender pushes him he’ll bankrupt them away. I hear this often and have had clients file bankruptcy rather than live with the overwhelming threat of a massive deficiency judgment. Most of the time we get the de...

So I'm driving back from listing a house in Shepherdsville, Kentucky and there it is - a for sale sign in someone's front lawn. I instantly know that this is a deal from deal-land. I circle around and around, and upon closer look I start wondering if this is a good deal, half a deal or no deal at all. Dave Halpern Louisville Short Sale Expert Realtors (502) 664-7827

Shepherdsville investors and first-time home buyers are coming out of the woodwork and snatching up homes.  With low interest rates, great selection and incentives for first time home buyers, the message has started to get out.  Now is a great time to buy Shepherdsville Homes! I was contacted by a young couple early last week who were interested in seeing homes.  Due to his work schedule, Saturday turned out to be the best time to go looking.  Over the next few days, we emailed properties back and forth to confirm an itinerary.  What was easy a few months ago, has suddenly become a little difficult.  Despite the fact they had only been looking for a couple of weeks, four of the seven properties they initially sent were pending.  During the course of the week, three other properties rece...

If you live in Shepherdsville and would like to recycle, there are a couple of different ways to go about it.  The easist and most convenient is to call Eco-Tech (935-1130) and have them pick it up at the curb.  They charge $5.00 / month for this service. Alternatively, you can take everything to the 'recycling center' on South Preston beside the stockyards.  There is no cost and you do not have to separate anything. With a little more effort, you can give your aluminum cans to a worthy cause such as the youth program at Divine Savior Lutheran Church.  We keep 2 recycled-plastic bins in our garage.  Aluminum cans go in one and plastic/metal/glass containers go in the other.  Once every couple of weeks, we drop the cans off at the church and take everything else to the recycling center. ...

As the weather turns colder, certain foods become more appealing.  One of my favorite cold-weather dinners is chili.  My wife makes killer chili and I love to top it with shredded cheese and corn chips.  While the cheese is optional, the Fritos are not.  She gave up questioning this years ago and now includes corn chips on the grocery list just assuredly as she does hamburger.     For whatever reason, today was the exception.  She called stating that she forgot to get Fritos at the store and asked that I grab some on my way home.  As a result of the detour, I ended up leaving Kroger as the sun was setting.  I pulled over at the Shepherdsville Post Office and took the following picture.  The one at the top was taken in Mallard Lakes.  I've never really thought that I would like a pond r...

After almost 2 years, the remnants of the train wreck between Shepherdsville and Brooks have finally been cleaned-up.  The 8' high green fence that bordered 1020 is down and the cars have been removed.  Like many, I drive that road virtually every day and had grown so accustomed to seeing the wreckage that I was wondering whether CSX was going to create some sort of museum on the spot.  I'm fairly certain that I have never been so pleased to see an empty lot as I was last week.  The train is gone, but evidence of the fire still exists. One more step towards normalcy for those who were most affected. * * * * * Erik Hitzelberger is a licensed real estate agent with RE/MAX Alliancein Louisville. Lotus Pointe is a secluded subdivision offering beautiful homes on large lots.  Most of these 3-5 acre lots are wooded and provide a park-like setting.  In fact, very little separates this neighborhood from Bernheim Forest.  Seeing deer, turkeys, etc from your deck is common.  If you like country settings, make sure you check out this these Shepherdsville homes. Luxury homes in Lotus Pointe have 4-5 Bedrooms and 2 1/2-3.  Since the lots are so large, these homes typically have fewer custom amenities than similar priced homes in St Andrews Crossing or Heritage Hills.  However, fireplaces, whirlpool tubs and hardwood floors are common.   These 1800-3200 SqFt homes also have large bedrooms, formal dining rooms, open floor plans and basements.      Based on the number of homes, this is a r...

If you live in the Shepherdsville city limits, you have probably been wondering why someone left you a green Eco-Tech trash-can.  We received our can rather unceremoniously last weekend.  There was no note of explanation or introductory letter, just a large green can sitting at the end of the driveway. Due to the timing of the delivery, my first thought was that this was for yard debris from the wind storm.  While driving through neighborhoods last week, I noticed that my opinion was shared. However, no one came to remove the cans so I decided to call and find out exactly what was going on.   I spoke with representatives from Eco-Tech and Rumpke and each confirmed that ECO-Tech has been awarded the contract to pick-up trash by the city of Shepherdsville effective October 1st.  Their mo...
