Just to paraphrase an email we received today from our local board-> The Greater Northwest Indiana Association of REALTORS... Reminder of a Public Hearing that will take place Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 7:00 PM, Crown Point High School auditorium, 1500 S. Main Street in Crown Point. On the Proposed Illiana Expressway - a Tollroad  that would connect I 65 in Northwest Indiana with I 55 near Joliet, IL. There have been pro's and con's to this for several years to the point it is now a topic indexed on WIKEPEDIA Here's a link to the Final feasability Study with maps of the Area that would be affected. St Jude House in Crown Point, Indiana serves as a safe shelter for victim of domestic violence and sexual assault and their dependent children.  Every year nearly 400 adults and children come to St Jude House seeking safety. A Women's Conference, "Return to Joy", will be held at Bethel Church in Crown Point, Indiana.  Carol Kent is an international public speaker and best selling author.  She will be sharing her testimony of her own "Return to Joy" after circumstances threatened to undo her family.  The conference will take place on November 6-7, 2009 at 10202 Broadway and is sponsored by Crossroads Fellowship from Bloomington, Indiana.  The doors open at 6:00pm on Friday evening and ends on Saturday at 2;45pm.     This is the Stimulas Package that we needed to help move the 100k and under and the 100k to 150k market in Real Estate. I have even heard some people in the Industry say that we might have a Tax Credit next year as well. The property tax cap here in Indiana that is coming up I think will start to help the Luxury Market as well.  Ive been showing a great deal of Forclosed and vacant homes in the Falling Waters subdivision. There are some great deals on the homes out there. The taxes out there are some what high. The good thing about that is that in 2009 there will be a Tax Cap for Indiana that will cap the taxes 1.5% of the sale price of the home, cutting the taxes out here in half. One of the many great things about living in Valparaiso, Indiana is that it is a quaint, small city but with access to so much.  There is not much time to be bored.  Already this summer we have had a chance to enjoy the Porter County Fair and the La Porte County Fair.  If you missed those, don't worry.  The Lake County Fair starts on August 7 and runs through August 16, 2009.  Free petting zoo and free family entertainment will take place all week long.  Better yet, on Monday through Friday you can also take advantage of free admission to the fair before 3 pm.  Parking is available at Crown Point High School and ride the free shuttle to the fair grounds starting at 12 noon.  Crown Point High School is located 2 block south of the Lake County Fair on S.  It been an interesting year in real estate. When some of our buyers have searched and finally found a home, the next step was getting them pre-approved for a loan. Lenders are really checking Solds more in depth then they have been in the past. They are really looking at 6 months out instead of your standard 12 month.
