I was reminded again last night why Wilmette is such a wonderful place to live.  I had dinner with my daughter at Nick's Neighborhood Bar & Grill and the streets in downtown Wilmette were packed.  There are so many restaurants there - good restaurants - that it's a destination for Winnetka, Kenilworth, and other nearby residents.Added to that, Wilmette real estate is still strong and it's a number one place to live whether you're looking for a single family home or a condo/townhouse.  Here's what's happening now in the Kenilworth Gardens area of Wilmette home inventory and sales:Currently for sale:  14 homesLow price:  $659,000High price:  $1,350,000Under contract or pending: 4 homesSold year-to-date:  32 homesLow price:  $474,500High price:  $1,450,000Median price:  $735,000The absorp...

The Come Home North Shore real estate team is sponsoring the third annual Kenilworth Gardens Neighborhood Yard Sale on Saturday, May 17. If you live in the neighborhood and want to participate, it’s easy.  All you have to do is go to our new interactive website and sign up (it's free). That way your home will be on the interactive map that shows shoppers which houses are participating. Or, if you prefer, just drop us a line and tell us you want in.  On sale day put prices on your merchandise, drag it outside and welcome the hoards of buyers that are bound to show up on sale day. That’s it. We’ll supply the signs and the advertising to ensure we get a good turnout. If you’re not from the neighborhood, we hope you’ll stop  by and check out all the wonderful “treasures” we’ll be selling. ...

Our inaugural egg hunt was so successful last year we’ve decided to make it an annual event. So grab the kids and hop on over for some eggs-citement at Thornwood Park this Saturday morning, April 7, at 9:45 (the hunt will start at 10:00). The Come Home North Shore team is hosting our 2nd annual Thornwood Park Egg Hunt for kids 10 and under. It looks like we’ll have good weather for it. The forecast is for partly sunny skies and 65 degrees. Be sure and bring your camera to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. And don’t forget to bring a basket for collecting your eggs. We’ll have prizes for the kids and a drawing for the parents. Who: Kids 10 and under (but don't worry, we're not going to card your child!) Where: Thornwood Park in Wilmette (2400 Thornwood Ave.) When: Saturday, April 7. ...

There are so many things to love about summer on the North Shore, but for me one of the highlights has to be the Thornwood Park Concert, right here in the Kenilworth Gardens neighborhood of Wilmette. In its sixth year, the annual concert is the brainchild of Terri and Tony Lorenz, who organized the first concert back in 2005 and have continued to be the driving force behind it. They had moved from the city and bought a house across the street from the park. And they thought, “Wow, wouldn’t this be the perfect venue for a fun neighborhood event.” And the Thornwood Park Concert was born. The performers? Local dads (and one mom) who play in rock bands (for fun). It was a big hit that first year and has increased in popularity ever since. The concert is held on a Sunday afternoon and famili...
