The South Elgin IL Real Estate Market continues to show good sales performance of single family homes in 2010. 144 homes have closed so far in 2010 compared to 119 closes in 2009. The average price of closed homes has dropped slightly from $250,786 in 2009 to $238,504 in 2010. The inventory in South Elgin IL has increased in the past month which is unusual for this time of year. Whether I'm standing in line at the grocery store or meeting a new client in South Elgin, IL, people want to know "what's happening in the housing market?". The national news has certainly been discouraging. On August 24 the Chicago Tribune published the unsettling article Chicago Area Home Sales Plunge in July. But here in the western suburbs of Chicago we're doing better than most areas. "Among the Chicago-area counties, the only one to eke out a positive sales performance was Kane County, where July sales rose 1.3 percent from a year ago".
