I was contacted this am by a citizen of Campton of whom I never met or have communicated with in the past.  His manifesto is just one of many from concerned citizens against the ill-placed big brother government that exists in Campton.  So many people who voted for the incorporation have switched now that they understand what Campton's ruling class is up to with Campton.  I'm please to have permission to republish this.  Here it is as given to me:   FEAR, SMEAR, and BROKEN PROMISES! No, it's not a new country western song, it's the tactical platform implemented by the proponents of the village of Campton Hills. Their village was voted into existence by instituting unwarrantable FEAR (i.e. Elginphobia http://www.camptonthepromise.com/elgin_fear.html, wells drying up http://www.camptonthe...

Being a lawyer I can appreciate a good lawyer joke.  Here's one...."What's the difference between a lawyer and a vulture?"  A vulture eventually let's go.  While funny as a joke and a good dig on attorneys, it sure seems to be the M.O. for Patsy Smith....Let go already!!!!  People want out!!!!  The law is on our side!!!!People are winning.  Courts are ruling against her....but she doesn't seem to be able to let go....but then again it's not her money that she's spending.    In my opinion, she spends money indiscriminately in order to: 1)  Keep the village from dissolving even though A LOT OF PEOPLE WANT OUT; 2)  Keep herself and certian kronies on a payroll (that's a real good reason to form a government); 3)  Keep herself and her friends in power...actually it's probably more about her...

This was forwarded on to me.  I really think that the time to vote is now.  I know so many have left the dark side and joined the "force" after the truths have been exposed.  Here's what I received this evening.... THREAT ALERT!!!You Need to VOTE NOW, if you are in one of the disconnections affirmed this week by the Appellate Court.Communities affected: Prairie Lakes, Hidden Oaks,The Moraines of Campton, Cheval-de Sal, Campton Farms      With no Village trustee vote, but with our Village President making a unilateral decision she has again brought Bernstein & Lehr(A&L) in to litigate against her own citizenry. This time A&L will try to keep the residents of the Five communities who's disconnection was affirmed by the Appellate court this week from voting. The State Statute is very speci...

Went out of town for the week and I missed a lot of turmoil it seems.  I received a myriad of e-mails asking me to tell others to vote Campton out of existence this forthcoming election.  I had so many e-mails at work that this has really dropped in precedence for a bit.  Too bad.  But, I must say that in my absence a lot of things have happened positively in this past week.  Let me tell you a few of them; 1)  The GOVERNMENT of Campton Hills (not the people of Campton Hills) lost its appeal to prevent Campton Farms, Prairie Lakes, Cheval de Selle, Hidden Oaks and the Moraines of Campton to return to their peaceful and blissful pre - campton existence; 2)  I have a number of friends and neighbors who voted for the village incorporation.  Later they admitted that they were ignorant of wha...

Although we have a big battle looming in Campton Hills, this is a non - partisan post.  Both sides agree that we need to protect our children.  As written in the Kane County Chronicle: Police are notifying parents that a man in a blue mini-van approached two children and invited them to go to Bible study with him.The two children, a 6-year-old girl and her 15-year-old brother, were approached at  3:15 p.m. Thursday on their way home from school at the intersection of Hunters Hill and Chaffield drives, Police Chief Greg Anderson said."He asked them to get into the vehicle and go to Bible study with him," Anderson said. "When the children refused, the vehicle sped off toward Route 64."The children described the driver as a male white in his 30s with a slender build, dark brown hair and a ...

Driving around Campton Hills, formerly known as the great area of unincorporated Saint Charles and Wasco and saw a couple of vote no for the dissolution signs in their democratic, big government blue.  I decided to give an snyopsis of my take on the importance of this issue.  Additionally, below I have attached the flyer that's being passed around by the citizens opposing the new, bigger government of Campton Hills. My synopsis mirrors a lot of what these people are promulgating.  1)  Biggest thing for me is what they say about Fiscal Responsibility.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that what they're saying makes sense. 2)  School District 303....apparently we lose some voice there.  I wasn't aware of that, but if that's true.... That just ain't good! 3)  Finally....Campton is...

Reasons for Dissolution FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY •·        It is unrealistic and ultimately impossible to effectively manage a municipality with "No New Taxes." Shared revenue from the State is never paid out at 100 %. •·        The Special Service Area (SSA) established because of flooding in the Evening Prairie subdivision is essentially a tax, but residents have been told it is a benefit. •·        Relying solely on sales tax revenue to support a village requires a thriving retail and commercial area.  Currently this does not exist in the Village of Campton Hills to the extent necessary to support the added layer of government. And if an adequate level of commercial development were achieved, it would negatively impact the rural quality of life this Village was  formed to protect!  PUBL...

Just signed on today and got an broadcast e-mail showing the new site for the opposition against Campton Hills.  I've cut and pasted, but you can get the information yourself from the site.  The site is www.camptonthepromise.com.  Do your own research and make your own decisions on what you want to do, but this looks like a very well thought out site.  All of the citizens in Campton are concerned with the future of the area out here.  It's taken over 2000 signatures to get on the ballot to dissolve Campton where it only took a few signatures to create this entity.  In fairness to all, I ask that you just educate yourself and go vote to preserve the peace and beauty of our area.  Below is some of the text from the first page of the website.  I'm disabling the commenting section on this p...

Time is always of the essence.  It's time that the Citizens of Campton Hills band together to let their voices be heard.  It's on the ballot and there's a lot of information for and against keeping this entity together.  We already know that a special service tax has been created for a drainage district despite the claims of no new taxes.  The villagers are free to vote any way they want, but the time to act is now.  Check out the site www.stopcamptonhillspac.com.  Although, I'm not involved with any organization, I have strong feelings towards this dissolution. Judge Colwell wrote in his legal decision the following: "The court is not persuaded that it may simply disregard such alternate sources of funding simply because the village has not yet attempted to utilize those sources (or, m...

Last week a message urging residents to  'Vote No' was sent out using the Village of Campton Hills newsletter and notification mail list.  The Village Publicity/Media Volunteer, Don Grillo, is also active in the Preserve Campton PAC. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... Getting interesting here.  Supposedly, he used the Village Mail list, the one used for newsletters, by 'mistake' and sent the political message to the entire distribution list.    I'm thinking two thoughts..... 1)  Either a blatant misuse of power....they guy's gotta go if that's the cae or; 2)  The guy is so dumb that he doesn't belong in his position....please....ignorance about using a village mailing list for political game.  If he's that stupid, then he just needs to go.  Is he crooked or stupid?  Not sure, but he still needs to go. A lot of taxpayers want out of Campton Hills...or whatever the name of the community of the month is.  People overwhelmingly want out.  Petitions for disconnect continue forth.  Judge Colwell ruled that the first two dicsonnect are allowed to leave and return to the peaceful entity formerly known as Campton Township.  http://www.kcchronicle.com/articles/2008/08/27/news/local/doc48b4e9bbc1d26772792391.txt There's a great amount of people who want to also see the entire frigging community go bye-bye.  More than enough people have demanded that the residents take a vote.  The vote simply needs to ask....SHOULD CAMPTON HILLS BE DISBANDED?????  Although the answer to this is a resounding yes, certain members of the political machine say that the question should not be on the ballot.  They th...

Check this out.  The referendum on the ballot!  Most importantly, it's the referendum of Campton Hills.  The village is trying to get this removed, but it appears that all is good.  Very excited to have this on the ballot.  Let's see if we can get this Village to go away.  Check out www.kanecountyelections.org/Referenda/currentreferenda.asp.  Good things could be coming back to the residents fomerly known as Wasco, Campton Township and residents of Kane County.  Please vote to bring back the way of life we had prior to the creation of the Village.  Get out and vote.  Referenda for the 2008 General Election En español  VILLAGE OF CAMPTON HILLS Shall the Village of Campton Hills be dissolved? The KAne County Chronicle Today wrote about the village dissolution....A question to dissolve the village should not be on the Nov. 4 ballot because it is the wrong election and it was filed too soon after incorporation, four Campton Hills residents say.In court papers filed late Friday, Edward Fiala III, Aubrey Neville, Nancy Nickels and Linda Smith sued Chris Baldwin and Kane County Clerk Jack Cunningham to remove the dissolution question before ballots are printed. An initial hearing on the issues is scheduled today before Kane County Circuit Court Judge Michael Colwell."We are asking the judge to act quickly because the county clerk has deadlines to meet to print the ballots," said village attorney William Braithwaite, whose law firm, Arnstein and Lehr, also is representing the four...

The microburst that came through monday night left devastation at our house.  A lot of our roof was ripped off.  Shingle nails came down and pierce car tires.  13 large trees were torn down, but ultimately our family was safe.  No one was hurt.  We couldn't access our street because of all of the trees down on the street.  Later that evening Campton brought out a front loader and pushed the trees into the yards to make the streets accessible. We had family come over to remove the trees and the pieces of our neighbor's homes that landed in our yard.  I called the Village to ask about the removal of two trees that are on the easement for the village.  The next morning, I get a voice mail from Patsy Smith that said.."Mr. Bettag this is Patsy Smith from the Village of Campton Hills.  You ca...

Wow....wanted to write a great post on the ressurection of Brett Favre last night.  However, we had a storm that came through our town.  I grew up in Saint Charles and never heard or have seen what I saw last night. It started with my brother and sister and our spouses and my father taking my mom out to celebrate for her 70th birthday.  We got to dinner and the storm rolled in.  The place that we ate at made us leave the restaurant and move to a place with no windows as the epicenter of the storm rolled over.  After 1/2 hour it passed over.  We finished dinner haphazardly after connecting with our children and my wife and I fled home to check on our 6 kids.  We couldn't get down the street as there were many oaks down across the street and we couldn't get to our property.  We parked far...

Funny thing happened to me last night.  I was out eating in Geneva when I ran into Paul Fritz, local landscape business owner who is trying to be squeezed by the local dictatorship, er government.  Mr. Fritz was telling me of his woes and the villages desire to burden him with a ridiculous SSA (Special Service Area) tax.  I later went home and found an article on Paul Fritz from the Kane County Chronicle.  Evidently, there is a drainage problem and Kane County is going to pay for about 1/2 half of the cost to make these changes.  Having said that, the cost that the County is paying is just over $100,000.  The new Village, Administration, Government, Board, Dictatorship...er...excuse me....ah.....ENTITY was to charge him $11,000 and has since then graciously decided to reduced their char...
