The first time I ran into the Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival (almost literally ran into) was accidental.  I had gone up to Highwood for dinner, and off in the distances I saw these thousands upon thousands of glowing jack-o-lanterns stacked on shelving dozens high. I wasn't aware that this was going on in our area (I must have been living under a rock), but there it stood.... in glowing technicolour orange... blocking the way to our restaurant.  I had to take a bit of a detour to get around the pumpkins (and the crowds)... House Featured in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is Finally Sold The house featured in the film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" has finally been sold, after five years on the market. The property -- located in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park -- sold for a little more than one million dollars (or about half of its original list price).  The property consists of two glass-sided buildings, designed by A.
