New Homes Coming to Old Hoover Estate in Glencoe IL The Village of Glencoe has approved the subdivision of the Hoover estate’s12.2 acre site on Green Bay Road south of Lake Cook Road. The property was listed in August 2018 for $15,9000 and sold 43 days later for $10,000,000. It was the largest piece of privately-held property in Cook County. H. Earl Hoover, nephew of the founder of Hoover and a developer of many patents, bought the property in 1921 and hired noted local architect William Furst to build his home. (Furst designed New Trier High School and Glencoe Village Hall.) His widow died in March 2018 and the property was listed shortly thereafter.
