Geneva, IL Real Estate News

The other day I was showing homes to a very nice lady in Eagle Brook subdivision in Geneva, IL.  It's a beautiful golf course community and we were having fun, discussing decorating, size of rooms, views of the golf course, etc. Then the dreaded subject of MARKET CONDITIONS came up.  She had a discussion with an attorney the day before and he stated the Realtors had driven up the prices in the last few years.  I have never heard anything so stupid! Would he then say Realtors drove down prices this past year in Geneva, IL? Thanks to the media there are so many misconceptions that have to be addressed every day in my profession.Prices are really set by the simple Law Of Supply & Demand. A professional Realtor will look at all the information available to them and suggest a price for your ...

I recently read a comment in the Kane County Chronicle regarding installing cameras at certain points in Geneva, IL to catch people who go through red lights. I'd be interested to hear what residents living in Geneva think of the idea.  Personally, I think it's a GREAT idea!  I have noticed lately that loads of people are doing this & hopefully, if it saves even one life, it's worth it.  It seems to me that everyone is in such a hurry - to where, what is so important?? I can understand it if someone is rushing to the hospital!  Randall Rd. is becoming impossible with everyone in a hurry to get to the next red light. The other day I was on Rt. 31 in Geneva & there is no doubt most people were going a good 15/20 miles over the speed limit. As a Realtor in the area, I'm in my car a lot & I...

I'm a Realtor in Geneva, IL.  Since this is my first blog I thought I'd throw out a fun question. I reside in the Historic district and have been amazed about a beautiful red fox strolling around the neighborhood!  It was sitting in my driveway the other day.  I've also seen it just walking down the sidewalks!  Has anyone else seen this beautiful animal??  It doesn't seem to be bothered by people, cars, etc..  A few months ago I also had a great horned owl in one of my trees. It was only a few feet from my window and was really interesting to observe.I'd like to invite everyone to mention interesting things they have noticed around town. I just love living in this area with all the shops & restaurants. Let me know what you're curious about or what information you'd like to have. Has any...

Geneva, IllinoisGeneva Illinois history really begain in 1830 when Daniel Shaw Haight built a log cabin near a spring. He named his settlement Big Spring and set up a homestead with his family. In 1835 he sold his claim to James and Charity Herrington and moved north. The Herringtons were very influential in Geneva's early history, overseeing the construction of a saw mill in 1835-36 and the establishment of a post office in the same year. In 1836, Geneva became the seat of a newly created county - the County of Kane. At that time, voters also renamed the community Geneva after the city of the same name in New York. Also in 1836, a group of settlers arrived from Massachusetts. They would eventually found the first church in Geneva - the Unitarian Church - currently the oldest Unitarian ...
