Sairam Om: Best Indian Cuisine in Champaign IL I've been meaning to write this review for a while now, but I certainly haven't forgotten how much I enjoyed my experience at Sairam Om. Now it's been a few months since Sairam Om opened and I visited the restaurant in west Champaign, and there are reviews all over the internet supporting my own opinion of the cuisine: it's the best Indian food in Champaign. In fact, it's the best Indian food I've ever had. Unlike some other reviewers, I've never actually been to India so I can't comment on its authenticity. But I can say that it is absolutely divinely delicious. I'm not sure what the difference between the food at Sairam Om and other Indian restaurants is exactly, but to me the food at Sairam Om tastes fresher and richer in flavor. It's pe...

Where to Get Deep Dish Pizza? Papa Dels in Champaign IL In Champaign-Urbana, if you want to know where to go to get good Chicago-style deep dish pizza you ask the college students, and the answer will be Papa Dels in Champaign. Pictured here is the pizza that my husband and I just enjoyed for dinner tonight, and will be enjoying tomorrow, as well. It's a "super stuffed" pizza with pepperoni and spinach- a winning combination, in my opinion -and it's what we order from Papa Dels every time. Super stuffed means there's a crust on the bottom and another crust on top...it's not recommended if you're on a diet, for obvious reasons :-) Other menu options include thin crust pizza, Sicilian pizza, pasta dishes and sandwiches. When you have a hankering for Papa Dels, you can have it delivered, o...

The Avenue Bed & Breakfast, Champaign, IL It really doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of bed & breakfast lodging in general or not; you will not want to leave after a stay at The Avenue Bed & Breakfast near downtown Champaign, Illinois. About two years ago my husband and I were married at The Avenue Bed & Breakfast. We very quickly came to the decision to be married at The Avenue after a little online searching and a meeting with the owners, Paul & Catherine. It just seemed like the perfect setting. And it turns out, it was. The home itself is absolutely gorgeous and classic. It isn't kitschy like so many other bed & breakfasts are. The Avenue is tasteful, historic, beautiful and cozy...it's perfection. But not only was the atmosphere itself just what we were looking for, Paul & Catherine ...

University of Illinois Move In Day, August 19, 2010 in Champaign-Urbana Thursday August 19th is move-in day this year for freshman and transfer students at the University of Illinois here in Champaign-Urbana. What that means is, traffic will be very slow-moving on campus and all bordering streets. If you don't have to drive anywhere on or between Lincoln Avenue to 1st Street, then don't:) Also, if you have plans to eat out that day, you might want to make reservations or call ahead as the restaurants around town will likely be bustling with students and their proud parents. You can find a move-in map as well as information on move-in days for all other students at the University of Illinois website. Best of luck to all incoming students and make it a great academic year, everyone!

Homes in Cherry Hills Subdivision in Champaign, Illinois Cherry Hills is a lovely, established subdivision located in southwest Champaign. The homes were built starting in the late 80s and continued into the 2000s. The winding roads throughout this neighborhood help keep the traffic at a minimum, and the aged trees give Cherry Hills a mature look, even though some residences are only a few years old. Like most neighborhoods in Champaign, Cherry Hills was designed to include a public park providing an easily accessible playground, picnic area, and green space for the residents. Some homes in this neighborhood also have the benefit of being situated next to a small community pond. The real estate in Cherry Hills is generally priced between the upper $100,000s to the upper $300,000s meanin...
