Old Glory The meaning of the 13 folds.

In response to Junes Active Rain challenge "Ole Glory coast to coast" I am posting a flag from a friends home we sold last year in Priest River Idaho. Thank you Wendy and Adam, you are thought of often. The American Flag is not just a piece of fabric. It is symbolic of the fabric of our society as a nation. An emblem of the freedom we cherish and the pride we carry as a nation in our values and beliefs. At the end of each is the ceremony of retreat, the daily observance in which military personnel pay respect to the flag, the flag is lowered, folded in a triangle fold and kept under watch throughout the night as a tribute to our nation's honored dead.
