Aloha, The weather continues to be unseasonably hot and muggy here in Princeville Kauai leaving the beach the only place to be. I’ve been here since 91 – hot and muggy days like we’ve had the last few weeks used to occur on an occasional basis, with the tradewinds always making an appearance to cool everyone off. Aloha, I hate to sound like a broken record – well, not really – but yet another sunny, hot and humid week in Princeviile Kauai has gone by. Yes, another great beach week. Also a good snorkel week (at least from what I can see from my Princeville condo) as the ocean continues to be like one huge bathtub! If you didn’t want to move to Kauai before, it should be at the top of your “to-do” list if you’ve been spending time here the last few weeks. Some of our best weather seems to be in August / September and this year is no exception. I’ve heard complaints that it’s just w–a–y too humid (which it is as trades have been nonexistent to light) but I still love it. Aloha, We’re had another amazing week of calm waters (at least as seen from my Princeville condo) light trades, sunshine and humidity. It’s a perfect time to go to Anini and find a cool spot to lay in the water. The other option is air conditioning! Some people are surprised to learn our warmest temps are in August and September. Aloha, Happy Labor Day Weekend from Princeville Kauai ! I hope you are out enjoying the magnificent weather – no matter where you are. Aloha, As you may have guessed by now, I’m traveling and am currently in Austria. We were in Venice today and wanted to take one of the horse drawn carriage rides that we saw throughout the Plaza. Since the ride was 40 minutes long, we had plenty of opportunity to chat with the driver. He answered all our questions about the history of various building then said he had a question of his own. It was quite amusing that upon learning that we were from Hawaii, he asked if it was true that the favorite food in Hawaii was canned meat! Aloha, I’m happy to report that Kauai did not suffer any major damage due to the two reported hurricanes that were in the area. Fortunately, Iselle hit the Big island as a tropical storm instead of a hurricane and Julio went North of the Islands. Civil defense issued flash flood warnings but it’s much better news than having a hurricane on your doorstep. Despite the trepidation over the possibility of two hurricanes hitting the Islands, there were still some buyers willing to brave the weather. Princeville Hawaii- Home sales statistics- First Half 2014 Prices have continued to rise for Princeville Home Sales. The median sales price for a Princeville home  increased by 4% from a median sales price of $855,000 in 2013 to $890,000 in the First Half of 2014.   And this was on top of a 30% increase from 2012 to 2013.      The least expensive home sold in 2014 (year-to-date) sold for $650,000.  Actually, there were two (2) Princeville homes that sold for that price. Both homes are 3 bedroom/2 bath homes.   4164 Kamalani Lane was listed for $699,000 and sold for $650,000 in April.  The last sale for that property was $512,000 in December 2010.  The Sellers did some renovations after their purchase. 3780 Mapuana was listed for $695,000 and sold for $650,000 in May.  The Seller purchas... 07/10/2014
