Maui north shore gets first winter swell of 2010 - 30 foot waves It's that time of year again... big wave season in Hawaii.  The night of November 1 brought the first big swell of the winter season to Maui's north shore.  We could hear the giant waves crashing on shore, all night long.  By early morning the hard core tow-in surfers were in place at JAWS with their jet skis and boards.  Hookipa Beach Park was closed out to surfers - too dangerous!   The air along the north shore was filled with salt spray, almost like a fog!  Traffic coming into the little beach town of Paia was crazy, with everyone wanting a look at the giant surf.  They weren't dissappointed.  I only had time to do a quick drive by of the waves as I had other appointments, but did see some huge rollers hit the shore. ... 11/04/2010

Aloha Friday from Ho'okipa Beach Park, Maui Hawaii We were just hanging out at a baby luau - you know, when the baby makes 1 year it's a big deal here in the islands - and waiting for the food!  haha So I took some pictures and some video clips as a way to kill time.  Why waste perfectly good video of a sunny beach scene on Maui?   I'm not waiting until Friday to post this. Maui Country Club, Spreckelsville Maui HI - short video clip Today the "boss" took us out for lunch at the local golf course/country club.  It's not a fancy schmancy kind of place, just a nice down-to-earth old fashioned country club where they treat you like you're somebody special.  I had the Mediterranean salad with grilled mahi-mahi on top - delicious sun-dried tomato dressing!  Very friendly staff always make it a pleasure to go there. Last Saturday there was over 200 standup paddle boarders in the race from Maliko to Kanaha Beach.  It is a 8-mile race.  The perfect plan is having wind at your back and  riding the ocean wind swells.  There was lots of people there to witness the start of the race.  There was even three tiger sharks following the pack out of curiosity, it is there ocean. KUAU BAYVIEW - PAIA MAUI HI 96779 If you're familiar with the north shore of Maui then you probably already know about this neighborhood, Kuau Bayview.  It was developed in the 1990's on the mauka side of Hana Highway, and the first homes were sold in the summer of 1996 for about $200,000 - $250,000.  The development was done by A&B Hawaii.  It consists of about 90 single family homes in Phase I.  We don't know when phase II will happen, but it will extend this subdivision further mauka. What is Kuau Bayview like?  Most homes are 3BD/2BA with an attached garage and about 1,200 -1,500 sf of interior space. One and 2 stories.  There are some 4BD/3BA homes.  Ohanas are not allowed in Kuau Bayview.  Lot sizes are about 6,500 sf, give or take 500 sf.  There are sidewalks and paved driveways... 04/05/2010
