German cooking in Treasure Island, Cucumber salad with a twist I love to cook and people always want my "recipe" well, I do not have recipes.  Usually I do not even know what I cook till I get to the store, look around and buy what looks appealing. So, the other day I saw cucumbers and I LOVE cucumber salad in all different forms. Today we will add Mango to the mix. It takes about 10 minutes to make a salad for 4 people and it is really easy and no big mess to clean up.           Please do not expect the exact measurements or exact time or exact degrees in my recipes. Yard Sale on Paradise Island in Treasure Island. In November of each year Paradise Island has a huge yard sale. All the house, condos and townhomes on Paradise are invited to participate. It is huge and so much fun. I am always looking forward and when I see all the homeowners sitting in their yard selling "STUFF" my first thought is "I should also be sitting in my yard and selling stuff instead of buying more. This Yard sale in Paradise Island is the perfect opportunity to clean out your garage but by then time I realize this, it is too late (happens every year) Well, not this year, I just started a box with "Stuff" for the yard sale and I am prepared to part with it at the next Paradise Island yard Sale. Food shopping in Treasure Island and St. Pete Beach, tips for people that just moved to Treasure Island or St. Pete Beach. Yes, we only have one grocery store in Treasure Island and this is Publix on the corner of 104th Ave and Gulf Blvd but we also have 2 Sweet bays and another Publix within 5 minutes from Treasure Island and another Publix on St. Pete beach. If I need just a few basic things, or if it rain (store has parking garage, or if I come by boat (store has a boat dock) I go to the Treasure Island Publix, if I am looking for some European item I go to the one on St. Pete Beach but my favorite Publix is the one on Pasadena Ave and Gulfport Blvd in South Pasadena. City of Treasure Island Parking PassTreasure Island sells an annual parking pass that can be used for free parking at 6 parking lots. The pass costs $5 and is available only for Treasure Island residents and property owners.The pass is plastic hanger designed to be hung from your windshield rear view mirror so it is visible to parking enforcement officers.The parking pass is valid from 1/1 to 31/12 but can be bought anytime during the year. I had one of these days yesterday, trapped in the office all day long, 3 contracts falling apart, nobody returning my phone calls, appointments not showing up on time, every e mail I opened had more bad news............. you know what I mean. I just love the summer in Florida.  Our little beach towns have so much to offer. The sunsets on the Trail in Treasure Island is a fantastic idea. Will be there today to check it out.
