Benefit Car Show For Officer Kondek   Yesterday was a sad day for Tarpon Springs and all of us.  Tarpon Springs Police Officer Charles Kondek was killed on December 21, 2014. and yesterday was the church service, procession, and burial. Officer Kondek leaves behind a wife and 6 children. The funeral ceremony was open to the public and thousands attended.   Officer Charles Kondek was 45 years old and had been a member of the Tarpon Springs Police force for 17 years. Before that he was a New York City policeman. He is the first Tarpon Springs Officer killed in the line of duty since 1926.       A Classic Car & Motocycle Benefit has been planned for January 11, 2015 at Tarpon Tower, 905 E. Yesterday there were more gators on Lake Tarpon than I have ever seen in a single day. They were just floating along and enjoying the sun on their backs. It was interesting, seeing them out 'sun bathing' on the lake and just floating next to the different birds, totally ignoring all of the birds. I still wouldn't get into that water!!! 12/19/2014

Water lilies are starting to open on Lake Tarpon and I asked Ronnie to take me past them once again today to see if they are progressing. I love taking photos of water lilies and Lake Tarpon, which borders both Tarpon Springs and Palm Harbor Florida, is full of beautiful water lilies and lily pads. Yes, it is going to be another Lake Tarpon day today! With Christmas week almost here and temperatures going up into the mid-70's today, we are taking a few hours to go back out onto the lake today! This will also give me a chance to work on taking videos with the new Nikon camera. I did not check the batteries last time, so today they are freshly recharged and ready for action! This is a typical December day along Lake Tarpon in Tarpon Springs Florida. As a matter of fact, we both got a bit of a sunburn yesterday because I did not think to bring along the sunscreen - something you always need down here in the Sunshine State. While Ronnie did troll for bass a bit yesterday, it was mostly just a day out enjoying the beauty of Lake Tarpon. I did some photographing and then listened to a Dan Brown audio book for a while while we slowly meandered along the shoreline and into various canals along beautiful Lake Tarpon. It is indeed boating weather today and Lake Tarpon Florida, here I come! The temperature will be up in the low 70's and it is going to be perfect boating weather. We are going to go out for two or three hours, have a picnic lunch out on the boat and I will be able to try out the telephoto on my new Nikon. The Annual Snow Place Like Tarpon Springs FL is This Friday December 12, 2014.   Historic Tarpon Springs has a Christmas event in downtown from 4pm to 9pm.  This year there will be horse-drawn carriage rides, a snow play area, hay rides, holiday shopping, childrens' activities, music, a variety of foods, and spirits (well, it is Christmas). Window On Tarpon Springs, FL.  We strolled the main avenue in Tarpon Springs last week. It’s such a lovely walk especially when the weather is gorgeous, and we indulged ourselves with viewing the window displays in the variety of stores. I noticed this window treatment at one of the offices.   Downtown Tarpon Springs  is always a great place to spend a day with lots of antique stores, clothing, and other enticing goodies like food–great restaurants (Greek and otherwise).
