  2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival, A Blazing Circus Of Colors!  The 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival has come to an end after another highly successful year.  I feel so grateful to be living in such a wonderful city as Sarasota and be able to attend such a creative and inspiring event.  The 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival is just one of very many, many cultural events in this art loving city. The Avenida de Colores Burns Square Chalk Festival was started by Denise Kowal in 2007 with 22 artists and about 5,000 attendees.  The Sarasota Chalk Festival has grown tremendously over the last few years.  The 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival featured 500 artists and drew over 200,000 attendees.  The economic impact on Sarasota is estimated to be between $6 to $10 million dollars. Circus Themed 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival Begins!  Street activity began yesterday, October 28th as the 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival began in Historic Burns Square.  Artists from around the world have arrived and will be working all week long to create this amazing festival. This year's theme is "Circus City USA" and the festival will last 10 days.  The main event will take place from November 1 - 6.  According to festival creator Denise Kowal, "It's going to be bigger and better than ever.  We're going to have 500 local, national and international pavement artists and about the same number of volunteers."
