St Pete Clay Company on 22nd Street South in downtown St Petersburg Florida is holding their Empty Bowls event on November 16 at 6 pm. This is an international grassroots event to fight hunger. Local artists have donated their handcrafted bowls, which will be donated at the event. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Guests will receive a meal of soup and bread for their donation and the bowl can be taken home as a reminder that so many in the world have empty bowls. All cash collected will be donated to the St Vincent de Paul Kitchen in St Petersburg Florida to feed the hungry. St Petersburg Florida will be holding their monthly 2nd Saturday Art Walk on Saturday October 12, 2013. The Art Walk is absolutely amazing and really needs to be broken down into several days since there is so much to see!   When I packed for the trip with my mother I envisioned the daily routine I was accustomed to but with different scenery. I thought there'd be plenty of time for posting to my blog and facebook, for keeping up with LinkedIn and all those other sites, for responding to emails, texts, phone calls, using my hoop and still have time to enjoy my family, friends AND the other scenery.   The daily routine happened not so much. A different routine took its place and it turns out, that's okay!   The Office Manager and Leslie greeted me at the Asheville Regional Airport last night when I returned from the whirlwind trip. The sea fog is so thick you can almost cut it with a knife! Yesterday afternoon we went down to Boca Ciega Bay. Ronnie wanted to check out War Veteran's Memorial Park in Bay Pines (St Petersburg) to see what their boat launch looks like and I wanted some photos of the intercoastal waterway on the bay. When we left Crystal Beach, the sun was shining and the sky was blue. By the time we had travelled almost an hour south in our own county, the sea fog was so thick, it really looked like you could cut it with a knife. This was at 2 in the afternoon! Normally, these photos should be crystal clear since the other shore isn't that far away. The sky should be blue. I was indeed disappointed. Weedon Island Preserve in St Petersburg Florida is indeed a bit of wilderness. This is a wonderful place to visit to discover a bit of Florida the way it was years ago, back when the Native Americans were here. This is a fantastic site to launch your kayak, have a picnic, go hiking or learn a little about the archeological digs that have taken place at this site.
