Peanut Island is one of the top designated boating areas in Palm Beach. Located North of Lake Worth/Palm Beach Inlet and South of Blue Heron Bridge.Peanut Island is a man made Island made from dredged white sand and was created over the past 80 years. Peanut Island got its name from a peanut oil shipping company that was to be housed on the island, but never came to fruition.There is a boat dock, anchorage, designated swimming areas, snorkeling, pinic area, footpaths, restrooms, a museum and a presidential nuclear bomb shelter.While it is fun to walk on the sand bar caution must be exercised and don't forget to keep an eye on the currents which can be strong.
