In the summer months I try to schedule my inspections early in the morning in an effort to get ahead of the 100+ weather. This past Saturday I did two inspections and it was 98 degrees by 9:00am...no escaping the heat. Needless to say I was exhausted when I finished...but I was on the north side of town and had been wanting to check out a specialty thrift shop. This thrift shop had all kinds of building materials and fixtures. It was incredible, but what really caught my eye was the price tags, everything was labeled No Discount, but this one was just too funny.     What exactly is the discount on "free"?

This is the ceiling of a home I recently inspected. The previous homeonwer fancied himself a roofer and thought county permits were a waster of money. Metal roofing is quite expensive and when installed properly can last a lifetime. When done incorrectly, can ruin a home very quickly. I walked the roof first and noticed the DIY installed the metal roof backwards, allowing water to run straight in at every seam. The entire home was rife with moisture stains which tested as active leaks. This is an example of the deterioration caused by a poorly installed roof.

Some five weeks I got an unusual contact through Activerain. The potential buyer wanted to relocate from Pine Island to North Fort Myers.
