The Big Chill is Coming to New Port Richey, FL on Friday morning. We are expecting temperatures at or below freezing in the New Port Richey area.   As a precursor, Thursday, during the day, the temperature will not rise above 56 with heavy winds and a wind chill factor in the 20's to 30's. Craig was hoping not to have to drag out the old sheets and blankets that we use to cover the bushes and plants this winter but we will be doing it Thursday to try to save them from freezing. Rainy Day On The Pond In Timber Greens   It's rained most of the day yesterday; sometimes heavy; sometimes not. The pond next to our house in Timber Greens is a great indicator of the impact of the rain, I like watching the little bubbles that pop up as a result of a rain drop.  No Sand Hill Cranes splashing in the pond. I think they probably got wet enough just searching for food.   My iPad and I got wet taking this picture   I love watching  life on or around the pond; even on rainy days, the small birds come and go. The Mallards swim in circles for a while then go to the next pond.   It is still cloudy but the clouds aren't crying today. It is so unusual to have an all-day rain in Florida but I enjoyed it. Sunset Over New Port Richey, FL   Friday evening we were out showing houses (one was a bank foreclosure in which I was bitten by several hungry fleas); it grew dark on the way home and this was our escort sky for our journey.   We were driving so it may not be super sharp but I was fascinated by the redness from the sun setting in the west (to the right side of picture).  It only seemed to catch bits and pieces of the clouds.  I love the way the trees on the bottom right look like they are on fire.           As we turned into our subdivision, the sun disappeared completely. Monday Morning Orchid In New Port Richey, FL   I looked out my kitchen window this morning and guess what awaited me.  We have been having crazy weather: monsoon rain, scary winds, and cold temps so I didn't expect to see any flowers much less an orchid. We keep our orchids outside; when it's really cold (freezing temps) we bring them into the garage but if it in the 30's and above freezing, Craig leaves them outside. One of my favorite outside Christmas Decorations is this reindeer (lovingly called Bullwinkle by all of us).  He sits outside for the Christmas season, no matter what the weather, and if it's particularly windy he will go for a visit to the neighbors or try to swim across the pond.  That's why we have to tie him down; he's just such a friendly guy.     Unfortunately, I think this may be Bullwinkle's last season.  He has developed a leak which we cannot find. He only half-inflates and leans on the bush near him looking very forlorn. I don't normally care for inflatable decorations, but we bought him in Georgia 9 years ago when we had some acreage and lots of empty space. I hate to see him go - I know I won't buy a replacement because I haven't seen anything as cute as him.   We'll try on...

I have so many favorite ornaments and Christmas things that have been handed down; my tree is full of my ornaments that my son made when he was in school.  It is just too hard to choose a favorite from any of those. There are so many memories in those boxes that we bring out each year. Many of the the givers are gone now but it feels like they are with us when I put the decorations out each year.   This is our pyracantha bush out front.  This is what we trim it for all year.  It is the pride of our loop. The neighbors love it.   Bicycles For Kids   One of our car clubs (we belong to two), The Sunset Corvette and Classic Car Club works all year to collect funds by asking for a $5. registration fee for a car show participant. Every car show is not a big hit with this club; not like our other car club and the Autos for Autism show that we put on.     The registration fee and whatever other money is donated is used to buy bicycles to donate to our local Toys For Tots.  Craig and I sponsor the car club shows which is a significant dollar amount that we donate; and we have gotten several other friends to sponsor too. West Pasco Realtor Awards Banquet   The West Pasco Board of Realtors held it's Awards and Installation Banquet last Friday.  Our office was well-represented to see David Longspaugh (Broker) win his award.    And a special surprise was that our Tina Hoover won the Property Management Award.  (Tina is a special person and special friend). We were all so excited and happy for her.  She looked stunned: David had kept it a secret from her and all us blabbermouths in the office :0). He knows how we roll.
