U.S. Masters 5K Open Water Swim at Miromar Lakes Miromar Lakes to host the 5K Open Water Championship This weekend at Miromar Lakes will be the U.S. Masters Swimming National 5K Open Water Championship and other open water swimming races hosted by Gulf Coast Swim Team (FGCU) and Lee County Parks & Recreation. The event is at Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club off Ben Hill Griffin Parkway between Corkscrew and Alico Roads. Miromar Lakes SWFL Wine & Food Festival a BIG Success $6.9 Million Raised for charities with Matching Funds Tom Golisano of Paychex fame and Joe Anderson of Benovia Winery each pledged to match the dollars raised during the auction event help at Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club yesterday. $2.3 million was raised and that was matched by Golisano and Anderson to bring the total to $6.9. Outstanding for all the donors for great causes. On hand was AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams bidding against the event trustees Richard and Vicki Pitbladdo. It ended with both bidders pledging $100,000! Good work! The event raised 15% more than 2012 but with the mathcing funds it more than tripled the dollars. More than 300 attended the event with ticket prices at $1,000 each.
