Moved to Marco Island in 1997, after the typical drive over the Judge Jolley Bridge reaction to seeing such a beautiful island! Little did we know that we were surrounded by over 110,000 acres of pristine tropical uplands, mangroves, swamps and mudflats, secured in perpituity by the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, or that there are only 12,000 residents all year round, or that with three supermarkets, two pharmacies (at the time, now four),3 beach access points, (now four , working on five) two boat launches, yacht club, private country club, 2 marinas, all within walking distance!We were just in awe of the quiet laid back, yet amenty rich island, accessible by car, boat or airplane.
