Beachside on the south Space Coast actually has some really fine Italian restaurants. Many of them have some good to very good pizza. Here is the issue: if you want that pizza delivered you are out of luck unless you enjoy Domino's, Papa John's or Pizza Hut. Well we have a new Italian restaurant on 5th Ave in Indialantic called PaPina's Italian Diner and they promise to have pizza delivery up and running shortly! That being the case I was forced (not really) to try out the pizza and other Italian specialties to decide if they are a step up from the Pizza Hut's of the world. Another great wine buy at Winn Dixie!  Marques de Caceres 2010 is a Spanish Red wine that is on sale for $11.99 per bottle and also gives you a 15 cent per gallon discount on gas with Winn Dixie fuel perks. The winemakers notes on Marques de Caceres says:“This rich, full-bodied wine is made only in excellent vintages from hand-picked Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano grapes grown in rioja altitude.  Aged in French and American oak casks, Marques de Caceres Red Crianza has a spicy aroma, berry fruit flavors and a velvety finish.”It is recommended that this wine is opened an hour before serving, and is recommended with hearty dishes such as roasts or grilled meats. I recently wrote a blog about my friend Stephanie loving chicken wings.  Well so do I, and Long Doggers Radically Relaxed Grill & Brew has the BEST garlic teriyaki wings going!  There are several specials that Long Doggers has during the week.  But in my opinion my favorite by far is the Monday night 39 cent wings.  My mom just recently went back to Minneapolis after visiting for the holidays.  When Mom is in town, every Monday, and I mean every Monday, she wants to go to Long Doggers for JC's Garlic Teriyaki wings.                  Back at the beginning of November, I wrote a blog about the deal on Gnarley Head Old Vine Zinfandel at Winn Dixie in Indialantic.  The deal was that you could buy a bottle of Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin for $8.99 and get 25 cents per bottle in Winn Dixie fuel perks.  What that means is, if you buy 4 bottles of any of the Gnarley Head wines, you would get $1 per gallon off of the price of gas when you go to fill up (maximum of 20 gallons of gas).  If you purchased 8 bottles of wine, at 25 cents per bottle, you would get $2 per gallon off of your gas and so on and so forth.  Furthermore, there are $1 per bottle coupons at Winn Dixie which would bring the price down to $7.99 per bottle.  But wait there's more! To all my friends and all those who read my blog...Happy Thanksgiving from here on the Space Coast. I am looking forward to the slight chill in the air we are going to receive from an arctic blast (in the 40s...burr) in the morning. It is still forecast to warm to 70 degrees...so I am sure I will be able to struggle through! My 12 year old will be with me this year and we have big plans for the day. I hope everyone gets to spend time with their loved ones...and can look back on Thanksgiving 2013 with only the fondest of memories! As many of you know, I am in love with sea turtles.  I volunteer with the Sea Turtle Preservation Society in Indialanticc, Florida on Florida's beautiful Space Coast.  When baby turtles hatch, they crawl into the sea and swim out to the Sargasso Sea many many miles off of Florida's coast.  The Sargasso Sea is full of dense thick seaweed and is approximately 700 miles wide by 2000 miles long.  When the baby turtles reach the Sargasso sea, they live, eat and are protected by the dense seaweed. When there are raging storms out at sea, some of the little turtles are caught in the storm and are washed back to shore in piles of seaweed.  These post hatchling turtles are called washbacks. I love oysters on the half shell, and Bunky's Raw Bar on the beautiful Space Coast of Florida is one of my favorites. Don't let the name fool you.  Bunky's Raw Bar isn't just a "raw bar". Being from Colorado, I really am fond of good Mexican food.  So, I was really looking forward to dining at Cantina Dos Amigos.  I went to Cantina Dos Amigos with another realtor here on the Space Coast who told me that he really liked it (I won't name him and embarrass him in this blog for his lack of good cuilinary taste...lol). When you walk into Cantina Dos Amigos, located at 990 North A1A in Indialantic, the decor is really very inviting.  The Mexican talavera style is well done and cheerfully appealing.  Unfortunately, that's as far as it goes. This past weekend, a few friends and I went out to eat at Thai Thai II in Indialantic.  Located at 2324 N Hwy A1A in Indialantic, Thai Thai II is located right across the street from Paradise Beach behind Icabods.                               Thai Thai serves both Thai food and sushi, and in our party we tried a little of both!  My friend Candy ordered the Beachside Roll and seaweed salad.  The  Beachside Roll was really good!                   I ordered a Spider Roll and the fresh Ama Ebi shrimp.  The shrimp tails were fresh and garnished with caviar and the heads were served fresh and hot right out of the cooker.  I also had the salmon roe with quail egg which was also fresh and tasty. The 6th annual Witch Way 5k in Indialantic is fast approaching. This is a great event for runners, families and children. It all happens on October 12th at 5:30 PM (See Map Below for Location). Last year over 700 runners took part in the event making the Witch Way 5k one of the most successful runs on the Space Coast! The run benefits Indialantic Elementary School. This fun filled event not only includes the 5K Run...but also a fun after party will have trick-or-treating and very cool tech style t-shirts are included with admission. Wednesday night here on the Space Coast is always an easy night to find something fun to do! At the Crowne Plaza in Indialantic they have live music from 5 to 9pm or so out on the oceanfront deck. They generally bring in local bands that play either jazz or classic rock music. The happy hour specials (including $4 wine) are a great value...and listening to live music with a beautiful ocean backdrop is a huge bonus! They also offer a nice bar menu...our party ordered lot of sliders! The fish tacos off the restaurant menu are also a standout. The Crowne Plaza has plenty of parking available...not only in the attached lot, but also in the lot directly across A1A from The hotel (the lot has a walk over so no danger in crossing the street).     09/12/2013
