In the last ten years my wife and I have witnessed many dramatic changes in Estero Island and San Carlos Island.  So called progress comes at a price. Some is needed as the constructions of new roads, water system and irrigation, or the beautification of downtown with cobble stones along the walk ways or along 1st street all along to the bay, with french like city lights, palms along the streets and for example a fountain at the very end of 1st Street next to restaurant Nervous Nellie.   San Carlos island older cottage on Prescott st.     All in all a majority seem to prefer the town as it is now. This week end friends and my wife and I went back Fort Myers Beach Bay Front Bistro. We went there before but this time we wanted to try their brunch and I am glad we did.                                          We went to the second floor which has generous views of the marina and Estero Bay. It has both an outside terrace and very large lounge with an elevated long bar and dozen of round tables facing the high ceiling bay windows. The wives and I had the traditional eggs benedict with shaved ham hollandaise served with small diced seasonal potatoes. Last Saturday, I had the great pleasure of biking to my showing.  It's my own Listing, located on Estero Boulevard on Fort Myers Beach.  A Triplex with an owner's unit set back from the street, reminiscent of a Key West Hideaway.  My favorite unit is the front top apartment, a two bedroom with fireplace and a balcony that overlooks Estero Boulevard, the main street running through the Island, and with glimpses of the Gulf of Mexico. Old Florida cracker home or shot gun home on Estero Island. A few years back they had a garage sale at the property and I was invited inside. It still had a lot of the original floors from the 30's, made of local aged Florida pine, which is very hard and gets harder with aging.It was in fact very comfortable, with its lanai and central ac. Of course the kitchen and bathrooms had been updated, but the tongue and groove walls were also original, and it was in winter and the breeze could pleasantly flow from the entrance to the back windows.. 09/03/2014
