Heavenly Biscuit off Estero Blvd is always a fun lay back small restaurant to enjoy the local flavor of Fort Myers Beach. Its located just at the start of mango Street. I recommend its sticky buns, salmon, fruit and eggs brunch breakfast. Just a great place to mix it up with the local residents or enjoy the local paper and stay away from your lap top!       Just a few steps away is the very recent Mango Street Inn.It offers cooking classes, wine tasting, is a green Inn and you may stay there one week, one day or one month. I have  seen the rooms and let me tell you : you will not be disappointed. Very close to the beach.Oh yes its pet friendly up to 20 lbs. I met him once at a party, Senator Ted Kennedy, that is.  In hyannisPort.  It was a party for him in the 1980's to mark his 25the year anniversary in the Senate. I was invited by someone who had been actually invited to the party . .   in a way. I was 19, 20 maybe.  I had heard about the party the week before and decided it would be fun to go.  I had been down to Hyannis many weekends and had friends there, but no one who knew the Kennedys.  Still, I figured that I was sure to meet someone that weekend who had been invited. At the time, I was attending college and working part time as a legal secretary. I flew out of my law office in Salem that Friday afternoon, my suitcases already in the car and began the two hour drive.  I checked into that little motel on Main street and hurried ove...

I recall in my schooldays reading a required short story.  It was called "Beware of the Dog." The stroy took place during World War II.  An English officer, a pilot, invoved in the European campaign woke up in an English hospital surrounded by caring doctors and nurses.  Yet, he felt that something was not quite right.  He couldn't put his finger on it, but something was not quite right.  The Royal Airforce was to arrive shortly for a debriefing but he felt that something was not quite right and he was uneasy and took himself to a window and stared out.  In the distance, there was a sign and he squinted to make it out.  'Garde Au Chien."  That was written upon the sign.  The sign was written in French and he then realized that he was being deceived, that he was in Nazi occupied France, ...

A friend just sent me this joke.  It has been around for awhile so for those who haven't seen this one and I have no clue as to the author !   Subject: THE DEAF WIFE   THE DEAF WIFE    A man feared his wife wasn't hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family Doctor to discuss the problem.    The Doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the Doctor a better idea about her hearing loss.   Here's what you do," said the Doctor, "stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response."    That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner,   an...

Summer on Fort Myers Beach means rain storms and thunder and lightning often accompany these storms.  It's actually a good thing, for the storms usually last for only an hour or two, brings down the humidty and greens up the grass and reds, oranges, yellows, whites and purples up the gardens.  The downside:  Summer Storms mean fearful dogs. Our Pooch, Mimi, begins to tremble with just rumble in the distance.  As the storm closes in, she becomes distressed, fearful.  This is a common problem with dogs and so, I did a bit of research and am trying to use different techniques to help her overcome her fear of thunder and lightning. Calm ReassuranceSome dogs need to be reassured that there is nothing to fear. If the storm makes you nervous, your dog may be picking that up. However, be carefu...

Pure investors look at caps. They want to know what will they net at the end of the year after all expenses are paid off. That is the bottom line. Don't be fooled by how small that Fort Myers Beach condo or single home is. They might be power houses like the mighty mouse. Small but in a great location beats much larger in a less popular area. This Fort Myers Beach vacation home below is tiny. I saw the inside a year ago. I doubt its more then 450 square feet. But its a rental winner and a financial success. For these investors who think that that large home on the beach may be a better stronger investments:do your research. There is no denying that a home or condo smack on the Gulf Of Mexico of Fort Myers Beach makes sense in this buyer's market in the longer run, but if you are looking fo...

Welcome to Fort Myers Beach ingenuity! And its legal! Living room/dining room al fresco on the island of Fort Myers Beach.  My fellow residents in Fort Myers Beach never cease to amaze me. If their home is not large enough, they will find a way to add a "room", even under their home. This one is special because you can dine with your family or friends and look at the gulf with your feet almost on the sand. Notice: this living room/dining room is bit more formal with the cubble stones for the flooring. Who knows? perhaps in a year or less they will screen their living room and turn it into an enclosed extra room! Do not worry. This will not count as extra square footage...but it certainly feels like it.  For more information about Fort myers Beach homes, with or without wild dining rooms...

Located in Downtown Fort Myers Beach at 340 Old San Carlos Boulevard, the Smokin'Oyster Brewery is the perfect establishment for these looking for the island lay back atmosphere and excellent casual food. Of course you are not very far from a 7 mile florida beach. You may just go for a delicious burger and fries or a grouper dinner, fried shrimp, fried oysters, scallops, clams, or a classical New York T-bone. Prices are affordable, including the drinks. You may just have one cold beer or a full diner. The staff will leave you alone not matter how much you spend. You will find a mix of visitors and local residents just enjoying themselves under the fans the cooling sprays which float around the bar and outside tables. I highly recommend this Fort Myers Beach island bar restaurant. Its ju...

P>This is not right. "Fort Myers Beach town manager Scott Janke was fired Tuesday after it recently came to light that his wife is an adult film actress who goes by the name of "Jazella Moore," FLORIDA TODAY news partner The News-Press of Fort Myers reports." When Scott Janke took the job in April of 2008 many of us were elated that we had a pro active Town Manager. At each town meetings he seemed well prepared and ready to take the town in another direction: basically get things done!  If its the beach nourishments, the master zoning plan, the Newtown house project to renovate this historical landmark, the commercial signs, the parking meters, the new drainage system et..he always was on top of his game.We all liked him.He was a strong source of knowledge and enthusiasm. He looks like a...

There's actually people living on this little Island who visit the beach seldom, though the location of the white sand is but steps away from their front doors.  They take the beach for granted.  Fort Myers Beach has other attractions, but the Beach itsself cannot be topped.  I've taken the beach for granted myself.   But, If  there's someone who never does.  Mimi. As many of you know I have upgraded my camera from a simple point & shoot to a Nikon with a wide angle lens and some other stuff which allows me to yake great interior shots in low light conditions.  These photos were shot late evening here on Fort Myers Beach.  I then did some basic processing to give them somewhat of a dreamlike quality.   I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed learning about my new system ! Any comments you have are very welcome !
