But, earlier this week, my hometown baseball team, the Chicago Cubs finally clinched the World Series after a 108 year drought!! Growing up near the Wrigley Field stadium so many years ago, springtime for Chicago meant baseball and the Cubs.  As I write this, the city is celebrating the glory the team has brought it and euphoria reigns. I'm thinking, too, of how much my dad, a true Cubs fan, would've loved this.     Congratulations, Chicago Cubs!     11/04/2016

The Day of the Dead is alive and well in South Florida. Come join us for this unique celebration on Wednesday November 2,  2016 from 4 to 6 pm beginning at the Huizenga Plaza located at 32 East Las Olas Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale. Also known as Dia De Los Muertos ( spanish translation), this holiday originated in Mexico over 3000 years ago.  Family members would go to the cemetary, clean the tombs and remember those that passed.  There would be music, storytelling, tequila and lots and lots of food. Though it may sound somber it was the opposite. Friends and family would gather to celebrate the life of their ancestors when they were here on earth. Miami and Miami Beach may be the center of the tourist universe, but I would not discount the beauty and liveliness of Ft. Lauderdale either.  Vacationers often touch down at the Ft. Lauderdale airport and make a beeline for I-95 South when some of the best tourist destinations are right under their noses.  Aside from the fact that Ft. Lauderdale is on the whole cheaper than almost anything down south it has plenty to do and see with a heck of a lot less traffic.  The beach is obvious.  It's completely different than South Beach because it is more family oriented and a bit quieter except for Spring Break of course.  Oh yeah, you can't take your top off either ladies.  I would focus my efforts on downtown and its eclectic lifestyle that boast an array of nightlife including some of the b... 07/06/2016

The Federal Reserve has been holding steady on interest rates and announced they are reducing the number of planned hikes from 4 to 2 this year. June was expected to be the first month for an increase this year, but experts aren't so sure.In addition, any hikes are likely to slightly climb up with estimates placing the numbers at just a 0.9 percent funds rate in 2016.This move tells a tale of caution, which makes sense given the past decade. And for home buyers, the low-interest rates are a great invitation into home ownership for Fort Lauderdale luxury homes and other properties. More new listings, higher median sales prices and fewer days to a sales contract means good news for the Florida real estate market. This is the latest findings from Florida Realtors® that just completed its analysis of the first quarter of the Florida housing market for the year.The latest housing data indicates a stabilizing within the state's housing sector with traditional housing sales rising in Florida while sales of distressed properties declined in the first three months of 2016.  Numbers show single-family homes with closed sales across the state equaled 57,913 for the first three months of the year.
