Dunedin Pier in Dunedin Florida is the subject of the photo above. As you can see from this photo, there was a lot of damage to the pier. I was going to upload a video that I shot this morning but try as I may, I could not figure it out.For those wondering about the boat in the background, it WAS in the water prior to Hurricane Helene coming through. All of this damage is on the intercoastal waterway. The land you see in the background is Clearwater and some islands in the intercoastal. If the intercoastal received this amount of damage, I can only imagine what Clearwater Beach looks like. Honeymoon Island State Park is located off the Dunedin Causeway, just west of Dunedin Florida. When I was a kid the only way to get to the island was via boat. We lived over in South Tampa and would take the boat from Tampa Bay, under the Skyway Bridge and up to the island on some days. Other times, Dad would just drive the boat on it's trailer over to the Gulf of Mexico in Clearwater and launch from there. I used to teach Florida History in middle school and remember reading that the Native Americans here in the Sunshine State and throughout the islands of the Caribbean ate them.
