Hammock Pointe is a new subdivision in Clermont, Florida. It is really good to see new construction again and Hammock Pointe is one of those areas. The homes are being built by Taylor Morrison and are really beautiful. I had the opportunity to check out the Fremont model for a prospective buyer and it is really nice. 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, den, game room, 3 car garage and much, much more!! For those of you who were wondering what was going to go up at the corner of HWY 27 and Hooks St. in Clermont, Florida, I can tell you. Even though it has no mention of a Clermont, Florida location, I can assure you that that corner is going to be a new Wawa. What is Wawa? Basically, it is a more upscale gas station. I know, a gas station is not that big of a deal. This one is a little different though. Wawa is actually gaining a lot of popularity in the Central Florida area. I've never been in a Wawa, but I have heard that they have really fresh food and great coffee. I can't say I am thrilled about another gas station, but it is what it is. Is there a Zipline Attraction in Clermont, Florida's future?       In a recent Orlando Sentinel column, Clermont Zip Line Attraction Could Work If Done Properly, it states that the City of Clermont is looking into a possible zip line attraction that would start at the Citrus Tower and descend down to Lake Minneola. If this happens, I will ride it. I will love it. I will tell EVERYBODY about it. However, I doubt it happens. Do the people of Clermont really want to see people zipping down from the Citrus Tower, over Hwy 27 and over their houses? I had heard there was a new park in Clermont, Florida, so I decided to take my littlest one over to check it out. This is just one of the many reasons I love Clermont. In my opinion, it has a lot of things to do for families with kids.   The park is located over on 12th street, just before the bridge. For as long as I have lived in Clermont (over 20 years), the strip of land running alongside Lake Minneola had been vacant. Good to see that some people donated time, work and materials to make another nice little area for families to enjoy.       Nothing extravagant, but it gives you a nice of the lake as well. I recently stumbled across this picture and was fascinated by it. This is the first Publix in Clermont, Florida.     It used to be an All American Grocery store back in 1958, but was purchased by Publix. This was located I believe on Montrose Street, just down the street from Hanks Electric. Publix used this store until the South Lake Plaza opened in 1965. For those of you wondering, the South Lake Plaza is now where Gold's Gym and Kmart is. The founder of Publix, George Jenkins, dontated this old location to the city of Clermont to be used as a civic auditorium. It was named Jenkins Auditorium.
