After many years of proposed changes for the Cabana Club, a new plan looks like it will stick. The Cabana Club is owned Legg Mason, overs of the Belleview Biltmore Hotel in Belleair. The property is the "beach club" for Biltmore guests, providing a pool, beach, and gulf front dining at the Cabana Grill. The new plan is proposed by Legg Mason, who recently purchased the Belleview Biltmore and Cabana Club. A new price record for a condo in Pinellas County, Florida, was set this month with a sale on Clearwater Beach in the Residences at Sandpearl Resort. In this photo from JMC, the resort is at the left and the residences are on the right. 50 of the 253 rooms and suite in the hotel are condo/hotel units; there are 117 condominiums in separate buildings, which can share service of the luxury resort such as room service.One of the condos sold this month for $4,400,000, a record for Pinellas County. To my knowledge there have been five sales in the $3 Millions - interestingly enough, three of the five are in JMC Communities. Property Tax Changes Help Clearwater Beach Condo Investors and Vacation Home Owners Clearwater Beach Florida may see needed relief. Tallahassee finally made some progress today on the on-going debate about Florida's Property taxes that could actually help our Clearwater beach real estate market, or Clearwater businesses and those Clearwater families who have outgrown their home or need to down-size. Just before Labor Day we attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony here for the new Sandpearl Resort on Clearwater Beach, the first new hotel to open on the Pinellas County gulf beaches in 25 years. J. Michael Cheezem, president of JMC Communities,  has the goal of the Sandpearl being a 5 star resort (so far Tampa Bay only has 4 star resorts) and at the same time preserving a casual, beachy feel.
