Our local paper published an article that almost was positive. The article was giving the previous months new home sales vs. new home starts and the numbers showed that the inventory had gone down, only slightly but down. The article than went on to tell how foreclosures where going to flood our market. Florida Property Tax Reform There is good news out of Tallahassee Florida this morning.  The House and Senate have been able to devise a plan to send to the voters on January 29th, 2008. While the plan has many pros and cons there are provisions to provide property tax relief to not only primary residences, but also second home owners and business owners.  This is something that our seasonal and vacation population has been needing for many years. The new plan has the following provisions: • Portability of SOH Exemption Dollars: Homesteaders could take up to $500,000 of Save Our Homes protections to a new home purchase. As some of you may or may not know in addition to my work as a REALTOR® and Mortgage Broker, I also serve my community fulltime as a Firefighter Paramedic. With October being Fire Prevention month the Engine Company that I'm assigned to spent the morning at an elementary school talking about fire safety.  We had originally gone to do what we call a "Truck Demo."  Basically this is where we open all the doors and compartments and walk the kids around the Fire Engine showing the children the various tools, equipment and gear needed for Firefighters to do their jobs.
