This is the colorful atrium on the Carnival Dream featuring a grand pianist. My wife and I just got back from our 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean and it will take me months to go through all the photos and videos. I shot this music video at Friday Fest in Cape Canaveral, Florida, 10/7/2011. We have a lot of talent here on the Space Coast and Mo Geetz is at the top of the list! It's a great place to meet your neighbors and talk with good friends. The Space Coast Music Festival at Manatee Park in Cape Canaveral, Florida was held on Sat., Sept., 24, 2011. All the great local bands were there including Mo Geetz, Danny Morris, The Bone Dogs, Overload and more. The Capeview Elementary School Music Program will benefit from this event sponsored by e.A.R.T.H Awareness Music in the Schools Program. Overload. Colorful Stuff! We are fortunate enough to have Port Canaveral right here in our own backyard.   In 2011, Port Canaveral is currently home to Carnival Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, and Norwegian Cruise Lines.  These ships sail out on 3 to 7 day cruises to the eastern Caribbean and the Bahamas.  The Victory Casino also heads out for an evening of fun and gambling. This is a great time of year to book a cruise.  A friend of mine is leaving next weekend for a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas for $179! If you're looking for how to find Port Canaveral check here. I walked down to the Banana River Lagoon at sundown on 9/11/11 and tried to make sense of why tragedies like the WTC happen. The obvious answer is that the human race has not yet evolved to the point of eliminating violence and murder. Will we ever get there? I asked the clouds because the sun disappeared not wanting to answer.  They said that even the sun must yield to rain clouds but it always shines through again in the end. Without the rain, there would be no life to be nourished by the sun. Your job, simply put, is to refrain from blowing up the planet before the human race evolves in a million years or so. Can you handle that?   Memorials are wherever you find them....Even in a Bronze and Blue Lagoon. Never forget the victims and heroes of 911!   Life is just better in Cape Canave... 09/13/2011

    Jetty Park is located in Cape Canaveral Florida. People travel from all over the country to visit this beautiful area which boasts a campground, playground, beach, and famous fishing pier.  The pier is a great place to fish during the months of September through November.  Mullet, Blue Fish and Lady Fish are prevalant in the waters.  Often you can spot a couple of manatees, sea turtes or dolphin. The most spectacular site has to be watching the cruise ships heading out to sea.  If you've never seen them, it's a real treat. The Delta II with GRAIL liftoff took place this morning from the Kennedy Space Center.  The shot was absolultely gorgeous. It's mission is the center of the moon. Every first Friday of the month, Cape Canaveral holds a Friday Fest. It's a great place to bump into all your neighbors and enjoy a street party. Here are some stills I captured from the HD video I shot with my Panasonic HDC-TM90. They don't rival my Nikon D90 but for the web, the quality is pretty good. I'll post the video another day. I tested the zoom at the beach on my new Panasonic HDC-TM90 video camera and was pleasantly surprised. The parasailers had to be at least a quarter of a mile off shore and yet the markings on the sail were as clear as day. Of course, the misty atmosphere interfered with total clarity at that distance but it's nice to know the zoom and anti-shake work great. I would highly recommend this camera. This video is just practice for our cruise aboard the Carnival Dream in Oct.. That will be FUN! Note: Start the video and Click on HD for best veiwing. These still photos were captured from my new Panasonic HDC-TM90 Video Camera at Cape Canaveral's Friday Fest. For only having a 5mp still resolution, I think they turned out pretty well and thought I would share them. This means I might not have to take my much heavier Nikon D90 cave rafting this Oct. :-) It was early evening around 7 pm and the low sun created sculpted shadows on these beautiful orchids. Cape Canaveral hosts a Friday Fest on the first Friday of every month featuring local musicians, arts, crafts, businesses, food and drink. Watch these three talented young guys who can really play! In the Real Estate business, it's good to know a reliable, capable Handyman who will make your clients happy every time. My Cape Canaveral buddy Matt Adams is a jack of most trades and master of some. He's a great guy who does a great job! This shot was taken during some time off and he just got back from surfing on his long board. He walks 3 minutes to the beach with his board from his house - not a bad location! I'm experimenting with the video and stills taken from my beach area in Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach. I even added one of my original songs called "Crazy Old Man". The next one will be better. That is, of course, if I can justify to the wife buying a new Panasonic SD90 1080p camcorder :-) This video was shot with my Nikon D90, an excellent DSLR but so-so vid cam. By the time I got to Manatee Park in Cape Canaveral, the sun was almost gone. I had to snap this "dead tree" sunset fast! The park is on the shores of the Banana River Lagoon and offers a wide variety of events including an Annual Art Festival. Cape Canaveral Beach at Sundown looking Southeast. No surfing tonight! Quite a few people took advantage of the cooler evening air to enjoy a walk along the shore. Tomorrow it will go back up to 95 humid degrees. There is nothing better than walking out the door and snipping fresh basil for my dinner tonight. I'll be adding it to my special Basmati Rice and the Mahi Mahi with Shrimp will have a few leaves thrown in as well. It's my wife's favorite! Basil is an annual and is easily grown from seed. There are over two dozen types of basil including lettuce-leaf which has large leaves, cinnamon basil and the purple leaved varieties. Though it needs full sun, it does need more moisture than some herbs, so be sure to keep it watered; especially in pots. For those of you in northern climates, you can grow basil inside as a window herb if you plant the seeds in the late summer in pots and bring inside to set in a bright and sunny window. My wife planted these portulacas in a hanging basket that are really doing well. The beautiful orange flowers attracted this hairy-footed female flower bee (I think) that got the attention of our fake yellow gecko :-). There are about 40 to 100 species of portulacas found in the tropics and warm, temperate regions. They are also more commonly known as Moss Roses. My African Cichlids were getting amorous and zipping around the aquarium, so I quickly set up my camera and started filming. My wife calls these guys my "little piranhas" and they can get pretty fiesty. They are a lot of fun to watch and you don't have to "poop and scoop". Our Spotted Shark catfish does that :-) African Cichlids are intelligent, aggressive and very hardy which makes them easy to maintain. Every time you walk by they're swarming the glass begging for more food and live shrimp don't stand a chance. There are over 1200 unique and unusual species and they have a life span of 4 to 10 years.   The Cape Canaveral / Cocoa Beach area has a great sense of community and wonderful weather.
