Wordless Wednesday - Pain at the Pump? There is a new gas station going in on Hwy 50, Cortez Blvd, in Brooksville, Florida.  When I drove by earlier this week, the new signage had just gone up.  Thankfully, this sign was not yet operational but if it was, it would certainly not only cause pain but downright shock at the pump!

Morning at the Farm in Brooksville, Florida We went out early this morning to pick fresh strawberries from a farm in Brooksville, Florida. Click on the link for more information about the farm.   The sun was rising above the trees and when I got out of the car, the Spanish Moss hanging from the tree was catching the morning sunlight just right.   It was a peaceful morning with cows grazing nearby, new calves playing around them, birds singing, bees buzzing in the strawberry fields, and a few early birds like us coming to the farm for the fresh strawberries. Florida is not all about sand and sun but great parts of our state is agricultural with a great variety of produce.  Strawberry season in Florida begins at the end of November followed by Blueberry season that begins around mid-April...

Florida is a long state with many miles of coast line on the Atlantic as well as the Gulf of Mexico.  Many of these coastal areas have been named for identification.  Some of the well known areas are the Space Coast on the Atlantic named in recognition of the space and rocket missions at Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station or the Emerald Coast in the Florida Panhandle that amazes visitors with beautiful emerald green waters and white beaches.   But where in Florida is the Nature Coast? The Nature Coast is located on the West Coast or Gulf Coast of Florida.  Sometimes referred to as the Big Bend area of Florida, the Nature Coast stretches across eight counties, from Wakulla County in the North to Pasco County in the South.   Hernando County, Florida, is the second m...

Sunday Reflections:  Quiet Time Today is the third of Advent which should be a time of joyful anticipation of the upcoming Christmas celebrations.  With last week's incomprehensible events in Connecticut, this joy seems to have been taken away from us.  But it also gives us pause from the hectic activities we engage in during the holiday season.  Maybe some quiet time to reflect, think, appreciate all we have in our lives, and again be thankful for that, is the one silver lining that will give us some comfort. These church doors, festively decorated for the season, belong to a church in downtown Brooksville, Florida.  Just from looking at them, I always think their simple lines and crisp white color have a calming effect.  They seem to communicate a promise of peace and quiet solace for...
