Boynton Beach, FL Real Estate News

I'm Playing Hooky Today Because I Have a Date with Harry, Ron and Hermione! OK... admittedly this is not a post about Staging, Real Estate, blogging or even the latest techie thing but after all... it IS Friday and the very last Harry Potter movie... Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 opens today. My very dear friend, Megan (12) loves to read and she read all of the books in about 5 months.  We watched Deathly Hallows Part 1 together , but she's away for the summer so we'll be watching it together, but in separate states. I read the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone when it came out because I'd heard so much about it and the movie I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. No... it's not about wizards and magic... well yes  it is but it's more about good vs e...

Home Staging Tips in Palm Beach County... I Think I Need a New Room for My TV!                    or Tips for Avoiding the Mine is Bigger than Yours Syndrome! Last week I wrote about using a Home Stager to Help Your Buyer Make a Choice.    One of the questions that my client asked was "will a big screen tv work in this room?" Let's face it... we're all TV fanatics... cable news, sports, reality shows, the Discovery Channel, and of course HGTV!  And with High Definition television you can sit relatively close and not lose much quality.  As a rule of thumb (from the videophiles) the optimal distance would be no closer than 1.5 times the screen size  and no further away than 2x the size of the screen.   So for a 50" screen you'd want to be no closer than 6.25 feet and no further away than ...

Ever Want to Do Something for Someone... Just Because? Last year I met Yvonne Westerman , The Harmony Restored Team/Keller Williams, through my Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches monthly Lunch On the House.  She contacted me.. not so much to inquire about Home Staging but to find out where I got the little bags I used for my brownies! Not to let an opportunity pass, we both met over coffee and  learned more about what each other does.  Yvonne had excellent knowledge about Short Sales and works closely with attorneys in her efforts to do the best she can for her sellers. So... last year I received a call from her.  Once a year she "donates" her time to one "in need" client and she wanted to know if I would do the same.  She had been referred a client who was in jeopardy of losing h...

Every Day's a New Day At Green Cay... Some Creatures Coming and Some Critters Going! I'm out at Green Cay in Boynton Beach almost every day for my morning walk.  Besides the foot and back friendly boardwalk and the wonderful friends my husband and I have met there, I love it because you never know what you're going to see.  I've introduced you to my Gator friends and shown you moorhen nests and I've learned to carry my camera with me whenever I go.  I also learned this last week that carrying a plastic bag with you to protect your camera comes in very handy for unexpected rain showers. However... one day this past week held some very different surprises for me!                              We walk along the same walk every day... I know almost every paver along the path, but when I look...

Yes on my morning walk at Green Cay I was Dissed on and Attacked but it was all worth it. If you've read any of my posts you'll know just how much I enjoy walking at Green Cay in Boynton Beach.  There are my friends...humanoid, 4 legged and winged... that I get to see every morning and I get in between 2-4 miles of walking. But today I was dissed- My husband and I were watching something that you rarely get to see out here and I noticed a serious photographer approaching.  Now, when I say serious I mean the big guns... you know what I mean.. a lens that had to  have been a foot long.  So, trying to be helpful, I began to tell the serious photographer that just beyond was the event that is so rare....when this photographer said in a brusk manner... "I don't care... sorry!"             I ...

With our warmer weather comes Alligator mating season. While we do see them during our winter, it's usually mid-morning after the sun has come out and it is warmer.  They're definitely not as active as they are now. While always vigilant for these ancient reptiles, boaters and anyone near water are more aware of their presence during mating season.  Homeowners keep watch over their small dogs, who can be but an appetizer for alligators. If you're alert, you can hear the male alligator as it bellows to attract a mate.   And, if you're lucky you can watch as they raise their head and tail as part of their "dance"... this is really a infrasound call to possible mates.  A few weeks ago we all watched as an alligator decided to have some turtle soup. We all watched for several minutes, ...

As some of you may know, I'm at Green Cay Wetlands walking almost every morning.  It is how I love to begin my day.  Each season brings with it the return of certain birds while others go on their "vacation from us" flying to the north or south.  Spring is a favorite time of year for most of us because it's time for nesting and little babies.  Whenever you see a crowd of walkers and photographers... they're usually watching some kind of bird or critter behavior.                                                                                        This is the ANHINGA!  It loves to fool visitors by swimming in the water and with its long sleek neck, making us think he's a snake!  Even if you're a regular there, you always look twice when you see something rippling in the water.  Unlike o...
