For the second year now the Chipola Area Board of Realtors had a float in the Bonifay Florida Rodeo Parade. This sleepy little town in the Florida Panhandle really comes alive for this weekend event! According to the 2008 census report, the city of Bonifay has 2780 residents. But, according to the Bonifay Kiwanis Club which sponsors the event (this was the 67th annual rodeo), there are over 25000 people that come to enjoy the rodeo weekend!! Judging by the amount of people lining the streets during this lengthy parade, I can believe it! Our float was lined up in the staging area as # 100 out of 112 floats. Had the opportunity Saturday to participate in the annual Bonifay Rodeo parade. For this small community, it is a huge deal! They estimate over 25000 people attend this three day event. That is more than the population of the entire County! These folks take their parades very seriously!! As I was doing the driving, I did not get the chance to fully appreciate the number of participants in the parade, but it was a lot as could be seen while waiting around the staging area.  Crack Boom Boom goes the thunder and lightning as a storm makes it's way through Bonifay Florida!  Captain Wayne was repairing his electric fence and didn't get to finish it before the downpour.  It wont take long for the sheep to figure out they can get out.  Hopefully this wont last and he can get back out there.            08/07/2010

After a long trip to Louisiana and back, and an unexpected major break down on the way home, Captain Wayne and his Grandson Chris arrived back on the farm in Bonifay Florida well after midnight this past week with eight Scrapie Flock Certified lambs.  Settling down in the shade, you can see if you will look closely to the right of the lambs, "Cowboy", Captain Wayne's Great Pyrenees Dog, is laying between the lambs and the cows to keep them separated.  It didn't take long for Cowboy to get control of the situation. Captain Wayne plans to phase out his cows and raise Certified Ewe Lambs.  This starter group will begin to breed this fall.  Each female is capable of producing 2 babies per year.    ~Paula Stone 07/10/2010

The cows didn't think too much of the snow that came down yesterday afternoon at Captain Wayne's farm in Bonifay Florida.  That's their dog Cowboy, he is a Great Pyrenees and hangs with the cows no matter what.  Snowing in North Floirda is a rare event.  Bonifay Florida is a small town located just below the Alabama State line South of Dothan Alabama.
