Let me start by saying this is not legal information, you should contact your lawyer to get the exact manner in which this should take place in your state.  Typically to start the process for a fired contractor the borrower/homeowner should send a letter to the contractor with the following points answered in the letter. It must be hand signed by the homeowner (no electronic signature).    The letter should: Inform contractor of their removal from the project.  Provide details explaining the reasons for their removal.  Property address where the work is being performed must be stated.  Date of termination stated.  No more work should be allowed by that contractor after that date. Pedestrian Tales From the Middle of the Road, #47 Coming not too far behind PTMOTR #46, we have the latest pedestrian in our area to die crossing the street while outside a crosswalk.  Some things are different from each of my stories to the next, but a few things are surely constants:  folks here cross the street when and where they choose to do so, they have little to no concern for motorists, and they simply expect that vehicles will stop for them and respect their roadway.
