Everyone loves a good parade.  The privateers are holding their annual Anna Maria Island Christmas parade December 12th.  If you are in Tampa, Sarasota or Orlando swing out to Anna Maria Island to put your feet in the sand and enjoy a great Christmas parade. The parade starts around 10:00 AM at the North end of Anna Maria Island in Anna Maria City at Bayrfont park.  The parade will end around 11:15 AM in Bradenton Beach at Coquina park.  I strongly suggest if you come to park at Coquina or the Holmes Beach public beach so it is fairly easy to exit Anna Maria Island to Bradenton.  It typically takes about an hour for traffic to get normal on the island after a parade.   Interesting articles coming out now, my favorite is "The Freefall is over".  To call what we have been though as a nation a recession is putting it mildly, but that we are beginning a recovery is likely.  I remember in school, (not going into how long ago that way), simple economic indicators would tell economists how the country was fairing.  Well folks the little needle has moved a little to the left!  The "freefall" of equity loss has stabilized; I found it interesting that the doomsayers have reported of $4 Trillion loss of equity.  Actually how much of that 4 trillion was inflated?  Is your home worth as much as it was before the bubble?  I know my own home is up in value, not by much but still up from 2004.  If I had sold it during the bubble I might have made a bundle, but you ... 08/04/2009

It's official, the state route 64 bridge that connects Anna Maria Island to the mainland is open!  More than a week early the island tonight had a buzz.  I received several text messages, a phone call, and it was announced over our public announcement system in our office, "The bridge is open, the bridge is open."  The bridge closure was a non-event.  I heard very little complaining regarding traffic.  Sure, no one was happy to take the long way to Manatee avenue but the Florida Department of Transportation did a fantastic job.  My compliments to the leadership of the project.  It's not often my expectations are exceeded and in the case of the State Route 64 Anna Maria Island Bridge repair project, my expectations as a business person were far exceeded.  The Anna Maria Island bridge the... 11/06/2008

 With all the media reporting "the sky is falling", I have decided to take advantage of the not so crazy time on Anna Maria Island. October and November are my favorite months on the island, the weather is getting cooler and it is a perfect time to walk the beach and remember why we are here. We sometimes get so busy running around showing property that we miss the real beauty of Anna Maria. I remember one day showing property at the north end of the island with another Realtor and she stated, "Wow, I have never seen this part of the island before"...OK... I know for myself it is important to take advantage of this quiet time, it will not last.
