Besides being a great local getaway spot for many Delawareans, Rehoboth Beach Delaware is a nationally recognized place to play and relax. It has once again been named in the top-10 best boardwalk beaches in the nation according to Forbe's Magazine- Travelers Edition. Rehoboth Beach's sister beach, Bethany Beach was ranked number 2 in the nation with Atlantic City taking the ranking spot. Rehoboth Beach has been a favorite for not only Delawareans, but Washingtonians, New Yorkers, vacationers from New Jersey, and the eastern shore residents of Maryland and Virginia.  Although it's changed a bit over the years, since it was originaly built in the 1870's, it still retains it's family charm, friendliness, and attractiveness. Rehoboth Beach is the number one tourist attraction in Delaware a...

Downtown Rehoboth Beach packs a lot of options into a few streets.  Here old-time charm and modern amenities blend to offer a wonderful beach town experience for visitors and residents alike.  Rehoboth Avenue is the bloodline of downtown, running from Rt. 1 to the Boardwalk.  Baltimore Ave. to the North, and Wilmington and Delaware Avenues to the South make up the main business district of this quaint seaside resort, long a popular destination spot for people from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York. Rev. Robert W. Todd purchased 414 acres from local farmers in 1873 to establish the area as a Methodist Camp Meeting area, much like those he had seen in New Jersey.  Formal meetings ceased by 1881, although the site continued to be used for services.  Ten ye...

Between Rehoboth Ave. and Silver Lake, Scarborough Ave. and the Atlantic Ocean, is nestled a gem of a neighborhood known as South Rehoboth.  Here Old Rehoboth cottages blend with new homes to create a charming place to Be at the Beach.  No house in South Rehoboth is further than a 3 block walk to the Boardwalk (www.rehobothboardwalk.com), sand and surf, making it a very popular community for renters and seasonal residents as well as the year-round folks who call South Rehoboth home.  Gracious, old trees provide shade appreciated by people trying to get a bit of exercise, whether it be walking, biking, jogging or pedaling a surrey.  My friend, Sally, remembers when Laurel Street, where her grandfather owned a home and she spent many happy summer hours, was made of sand.  Today the sand i...

Country Club Estates is a triangular-shaped neighborhood nestled between Scarborough St., State St. and Silver Lake in the seaside resort town of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.  This clean, well-kept neighborhood has a Tot Lot playground on its south side, as well as a foot bridge leading across Silver Lake to Rehoboth Elementary School.  A favorite activity for children and grandparents alike is to stop half-way across the bridge to feed the ducks, geese and water turtles which make the lake their home.  The name, Country Club Estates, derives from the land's previous life as a golf course.  In the early 1970's, the country club was subdivided into 328, 50'x100' lots and the parcel where the Scarborough Village townhouses now stand.  This newer neighborhood provides some of the best property...

July 4th Fireworks are presented by Main Street & Zambelli Internationale.  Every year on the July 4th weekend, more than 80,000 people gather on the boardwalk and shoreline in Rehoboth Beach for a marvelous fireworks display. I still say they draw a bigger crowd than that due to not many places downstate doing fireworks anymore plus being able to ride your boat or one of the boats that will take people out there.8-9 p.m. a touring show band playing popular contemporary music at the bandstand by volunteers from the ARMY 9:15-ish -  a always spectacular (if sometimes too short) Fireworks display visible from the beach and boardwalk in Rehoboth and up and down the coast. After Fireworks- The Funsters will be preforming at the Bandstand Use the Shuttle Service from Route One at the field b...

Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's.  Although today I am in the office working my Sunday shift its a beautiful day at the beach. No one is really looking for homes today, but the weather is perfect.   This afternoon I will head home to a wonderful family cookout, with my children, my husband, my mom and one of two of my brothers, I am sad however, my sister will not be there she is to far away.  I am very lucky to live in such a wonderful place.  I can go shopping, sit on the beach for a few hours on sunny day or work at home in my gardens.  Delaware is very beautiful this time of year with the flowers blooming, the crowds are minimal and the sun is shining.  Enjoy your day mom's

Last Thursday, April 23, I skipped town and took a Road Trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. with my friend, Beth. What a glorious day!  The tulips were beyond description, and the display in the Observatory was gorgeous as well.  One of the great things about living in Rehoboth Beach is that it's a convenient day trip to so many interesting places-- Washington, D.C. - 2.5 Hours Baltimore - 1.5 Hour Annapolis - 1.5 Hour Wilmington - 1.5 Hour Philadelphia - 2 Hours Newark - 1.5 Hours Longwood - 2-2.5 Hours Now I just need to figure out where to go next time!   Every Spring, the City of Rehoboth Beach holds a Large Trash Pick-Up service for its residents.  South Rehoboth is having its pick-up this week!  You still have Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday to set your sad sofas, gross grills, gnarly mattresses, even the kitchen sink! out on the curb to be hauled away absolutely FREE!!  I just LOVE this town!

You've heard it over and over again...NOW is a great time to buy...just about anything!  Cars, furniture, and of course, real estate.  Many folks feel the best real estate deals today can be found in short sales and foreclosures.  Although this is true sometimes, one should not assume that all short sales, foreclosures and REOs are great bargains.  Here's why: A short sale is created when the seller owes more money to the bank than he or she can recover from selling the property.  This can be the case for many reasons.  Perhaps the seller took out a home equity line of credit on the property, thus removing any equity that has built up during the time the seller has owned it.  Perhaps the seller bought at the market's peak, and now that real estate has softened in most areas, the proper...

It was bright and sunny when I stepped out the door with Merlin at 7:30am--a beautiful morning!  But looks can be deceiving, as was immediately apparant when the blast of chilly air hit my face.  Still, tolerating a low temperature is much easier when the views on the walk are as lovely as these (Silver Lake in South Rehoboth Beach). Looking forward to many more sunny and even warmer days ahead!               Merlin, all snuggly and warmafter a walk in the chilly morning air.

In the next few weeks the flowers will be blooming all over the Eastern Shore as well as in neighboring states.  I know it has been a hard winter on so many people and we will all welcome the warmer temperatures.  What a great place to be this time of year Sussex County, DE.  You have 3 beaches to enjoy and something to do everyday.  Lewes, Rehoboth and of course do not forget Dewey Beach.  The seasonal spots have begun to get ready for the upcoming season.  March 27-29 the annual Home Show in Rehoboth Beach, for more information go to www.rehobothbeach.com. There are some obvious reasons that investing in real estate is a great idea. Have you heard the old adage, "buy low, sell high." Well, we know the market is pretty much at the bottom, so there is no better time for you and realize that now is the time to "buy low." So many home buyers and investors are still sitting on the sidelines waiting for the market to "hit bottom." Little do they realize that as soon as they think it has hit bottom, it will already be on its way up. To illustrate, picture a bounced ball, it stays on the ground for mere seconds before it starts its bounce up again, and so it is with the real estate market. There is an abundance of inventory available. Short sales, foreclosures, and distressed Sellers create a market that is just crying for investors. With so many...
