Wilton CT 06897   The Hurlbutt Street Schoolhouse was built in 1834 and is the last standing one-room schoolhouse in Wilton. There used to be nine of these schoolhouses in Wilton. There could be as many as thirty children to a school, all from different grades, receiving different lessons at the same time. The last one room schoolhouse was closed in 1934. Today, you can visit the one room schoolhouse located on Hurlbutt Street.  You are instantly transported back over 100 years in time. The Annual Jim Cook Turkey Trot Every year at Cider Mill School the students participate in this great fundraiser.  All the proceeds are donated to those in need in Wilton.  Turkeys and gift cards are purchased and delivered to families in December.  Children ranging from 3rd-5th grade donate a few dollars and then run, trot, jog or walk the 1/2 mile course.        A big thank you to all the runners and volunteers who supported this fabulous event.         View Larger Map 11/14/2013

Miller- Driscoll Elementary School's Read Aloud Program in Wilton, CT What a wonderful program for the school children!   Every year,  our local market, The Village Market,  purchases enough books to have at least one in each classroom, and in the library.    We local volunteers (most of us are pretty civic minded and /or huge kid lovers each take a book for their grade level assigned, and follow the chosen child guide to the classroom.   Then after some introductions and discussions about the subject of the book, the volunteer reads the book.    What fun!   I always enjoy working with and interacting with the kids of today - they are witty, funny, quick, and always polite.    in other words, I had a lot of fun!     11/10/2013

  The average sales price last month in Wilton was $899,282.   I thought it would be fun to see what you can get in surrounding towns in Fairfield County for a certain price.   The list price I am going to compare is around $850,000 and the towns are Weston, Ridgefield, New Canaan, Redding and for fun I'll show you Greenwich.     I chose these towns (except Greenwich) because they are not on Long Island Sound.   Greenwich is the most expensive town to live in Connecticut.  Most recently the most expensive home in the country went on the market in Greenwich for $190 million.  For this you get 50 acres, tennis courts, a pool, an orchard, views of Long Island Sound, private beaches, a beautiful 15,000sf Victorian mansion, but do save some money for upgrades the home has no central air and... 11/04/2013
