We had a great time at Dagny's 2014 Summer ActiveRain MeetUp yesterday afternoon.   Dagny is without a doubt (there isn't even a close second) the best hostess, and her beautiful home is an excellent location for a ActiveRain MeetUp. We were able to get everyone who attended the MeetUp in the picture above, before anyone left.  I know the names of most of the ActiveRain Members in the picture, but there are a few I am not sure of, so I will let Dagny provide the names of everyone in her blog when she posts it.  In the picture however, you will see Dagny holding her husband's new children's book, which he signed one of for my first grand daughter. I have a few more pictures below of Dagny's 2014 Summer ActiveRain MeetUp which show everyone having a great time.  In addition to the pict...

I just returned from a great evening hosted by Dadny Eason.  We all managed to squense into this picture. First of all, it was great to see all of the regulars from Debbie Gartner's Westchester Meetup last week.  This group included  Debbie Gartner, Joanna Cohlan, Hillary Sheppard, and Judy Mederiros. Our legendary Phil Faranda showed up with a tie--always working.  It was also good to see John Anello who promises to be a more active blogger. It was great seeing George Souto  and I finally got to meet Joe Petrowsky. I had a chance to meet Lisa Friedman and her dog Sadie.  They may have traveled the farthest from Stowe, Vermont. I didn't have a chance to meet everyone but I will look forward to that next time.

Westport, Wilton, Weston Market Trends From 2011-2014 Month to Month The tri town area of Westport, Weston, and Wilton are sometimes characterized as the "three W's."   These three Fairfield County towns all border with one another and enjoy intense scholastic and sports rivalry. The tri town area of Westport, Weston, and Wilton, a group of similarly priced homes and demographics has had a fairly stable several years of homes prices and numbers of homes sold.   Weston and Wilton saw a slight dip in their average prices in 2013, but ever so slight.   Westport has had a very steady but slow increase in prices over the three year period.   Interestingly, the number of homes sold was definitely affected by the weather in all three towns.   If you look to the fall of 2012, all three towns of...

First Impressions Start Outside the Home with Curb Appeal!              CURB APPEAL is the primary piece of advice I give my sellers. When buyers approach a home, they will form an immediate opinion about it, which means they probably have an opinion on it before they get inside.   If the "curb appeal" has been maximized, they will definitely want to move forward to seeing the inside.    The curb appeal, unfortunately, begins down the street  as the buyers approach the town. This includes considering whether this town is suitable for their needs.   Unfortunately, there is nothing much you can do about this. Just remember to talk about the assets of your town when you talk to a buyer.   Then, the buyers may use several methods to screen out certain areas of a town. One of those methods c...

We Have Lots Of Low Income Housing in Wilton, CT!   We have many units in Wilton, CT. We have 160 affordable units for our town of 17,000 people. Some are rental, and some are for purchase. They are small, larger, older and newer....   It is not a well known fact in town that these units exist. These units are in condominium complexes, single family homes, and in rental complexes such as Avalon Springs.     Lambert Common, Crowne Pond, Perry Green, Village Court, Autumn Ridge, Parish Road, and Buckingham Road all have homes for purchase. Relay For Life - Giving My All To Cancer Survivors in Wilton, CT 06897   Cancer - a scary word at best!!!   How many of us have been touched by cancer with family, friends, or acquaintances?    It is a mean disease that we all hope can be eradicated for once and for all! My sister in law, who was the dearest lady on this Earth, was diagnosed with breast cancer after having been kicked by her favorite horse there.    They did scans and found a very spread out kind of cancer - not "A LUMP" which is easier to treat.    She did her full mastectomy,  lots of chemo therapy, lots of radiation, and then began on a course of reconstruction.   At the very end of the reconstruction, she felt a tiny lump in her armpit that had not been there before.   After many more scans, it was concluded that he...

Is There A Good Use For Old Balloons?   Whenever I conduct an Open House for a listing, whether the home is large or small, single family or condominium, I always bring balloons to it. I love to use them to attach to signs to grab folks’ attention to come in, but I also love to have the balloons in the house. That way, it looks festive and welcoming.   If families come with children, it’s a great gift for the kids, and an ice breaker for the adults, if they are uncomfortable about being approached. However, there have recently been some open houses that have not had any children come at all. Now, I HATE to pop balloons that have not been enjoyed yet.   Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am HUGE on recycling. An unused balloon for me is the kiss of death. A couple of weeks ago, I fin...
