The  Town of Vernon has been awarded $200,000 in Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) funding as part of Governor Malloy’s $3.8 million dollar campaign to revitalize abandoned and blighted brownfield sites throughout the state. According to a press release in April 17, 2014 by the Town of Vernon, Vernon’s application was one of only twenty-one (21) approved by the Office of Brownfield Remediation and Development, and was awarded for the assessment of 15.2 acres among five former mill sites in Rockville for multiple potential redevelopments. This is excellent news for the town as blighted areas are true eyesores and have pulled the home values down. Revitalization of abandoned and brownfield sites would also improve the town's neighborhood and its quality. There are 12...

Condominium Market Data for Vernon, CT As I continue to compile data in surrounding towns, my sights turned to the Condominium Market Data for Vernon, CT.  Vernon is another neighbor of South Windsor, where our office is located.  Like Manchester, Vernon has a high concentration of condominiums.   Condominium Market Data for Vernon, CT  There are 50 condominium projects in Vernon.  Of those, 22 of them have been approved with FHA at one time.  Currently, there are only 5 condominium projects approved with FHA.  Incidentally, our office has handled 3 of these approvals and we are currently working on others.  There is one pending application with FHA for approval according to FHA’s site.  Analysis of Data I divided the numbers into those in FHA-approved projects and those in non-FHA appr...

Vernon Connecticut was a part of the Town of Bolton until 1808. This explains why the two lakes which expanse are mostly in Vernon are called Middle Bolton Lake and Upper Bolton Lake.  In 1965, the City of Rockville and the Town of Vernon were consolidated into a single township. The Rockville area gives the town the city setting and subsequently, the rural feel is exuded by the areas which used to be part of Bolton. Vernon is a diversified town located in Tolland County and 15 minutes east of Hartford. New England Civil War Museum is just one of Vernon's points of interest. Recreation parks and lakes can be found in this 18.03-mile community. Vernon provides easy access to I-84 and other major routes to Massachusetts and New York. The table below shows that currently, Vernon has 121 ho...

Planning to get a new house or a car? If yes, then apart from arranging money you’ll also have to work on improving your credit score. After all, with a better credit score it’ll be easier enough to convince the lenders and get a reasonable term. Now, whenever you apply for a loan, the lenders generally inquire about your credit score. Frequent credit inquiries aren’t good at all for your credit report. Special mention must be made of the mortgage pre-approval.   How mortgage pre-approval can scale down your credit score? For pre-approval, lenders generally request the recent copy of your credit report. These kind of requests are recognized as hard inquiries. This is a bit different in impact from the soft inquiries. When your existing lender checks your credit report, it’s considered s...

For those of you who may not know, I own a credit repair company, National Credit Fixers. Although my company does business all over the country, as our name implies, we do have a 'home base' so to speak. Our company headquarters is located in Vernon, Connecticut. Apparently, the town of Vernon has decided to highlight its burgoining business prescense on the web. Exactly when they decided to publish this I can't be sure. I only recently stumbled upon it. Admitedly, I don't spend as much time on the Vernon, CT homepage as perhaps I should (too busy running a business and everything). Anyway, Vernon has published a nice business directory on their website. While it is not inclusive of all the Vernon business, it does a nice job of highlighting some of the contact information for some of ...

Some of you may have heard of the site 'The Top Tens'. If you haven't, its a neat site which ranks things in virtually unlimited categories. This ranking is done by user votes, who can create their own 'top ten' list to vote for a company. The credit repair list is especially popular. Many people go there to see which companies people like the best. Thanks to some votes from past and current clients, I am happy to report that we have risen to #5! You can check out our ranking here (and a vote while you're there would be appreciated!)   :)   MattToll Free: 888-NCFIXER (623-4937)Toll Free Fax: 888-FAX-4020 (329-4020)Local: 860-282-6181281 Hartford Turnpike Ste 500     Vernon CT 06066

When I buy a product or service from a company, I like to feel confident in my purchase. And one of the ways I ensure confidence in the company is to find out as much as I can about their history. Knowing where a company started, their track record of results, and who their management is are very important to me. I think a lot of this stems from a basic human desire for trust. Why would you ever want to buy somethign from an entity that you didn't trust? Knowledge is power...and it is the first stept to trust! In this vein, I have worked to structure my own company's marketing in such a way to provide trust and information. Check out our NCF Story page, for example. I personally explain my thoughts on credit repair, the industry, and try to add a personal touch to my company.   What do ...

Whatever your business, marketing is a key component of it. There are a variety of different ways to accomplish that task - from radio, to newspaper, internet, and word of mouth. But I recently tried my hand at two new sources of advertising: billboards and radio ads. The billboard I rented for 5 months alongside a major highway in CT. For those of you that live in the state, perhaps you saw me while driving on 84 east! It was a digital billboard, that rotated between my ad and others. In addition, I recorded a bunch of radio spots myself, and ran them on local radio stations. Maybe you CT folks heard them as you were driving past my billboard. Anyway, check out my page NCF As Seen In, and let me know what you think of the ads!   :)   MattToll Free: 888-NCFIXER (623-4937)Toll Free Fax: ...

In the world of credit repair, there are many types of derrogetory accounts. People generaly first think of late payments on credit cards, or colelction accounts for unpaid medical bills. In the most extreme, people think of foreclosures and bankruptcies. But, there are other items which are listed on your credit report, and can hurt you! One of the the major types that is often overlooked is general judgements. these judgements simply mean that you lost in court - and were ordered to pay someone money. These judgements are normally verified and accurate by courts, and are therefore relatively difficult to remove. However, there is a way you can remove a judgement  yourself. You simply need to persuade the original plaintiff to agree to vacate the judgement. If you have already paid the...

As I have mentioned in other posts, removing negative items on a person's credit report is only half the credit repair battle. In addition to taking away the bad, you need to also introduce some good. What I mean by that is that you need to demonstrate to the credit reporting agencies that you have the potential to handle credit responsibly. The way to demonstrate this is by taking up some some low-risk, high reward credit, and managing it responsibly. In some of my other posts, I have mentioned secured credit cards for this purpose. These are great for building up new credit, but they are not the only way. In addition to secured credit cards, I always advise my clients to get some merchant accounts. These accounts function similarly to a credit card, except they can only be used for on...

When people talk to me about credit repair, they usually only bring up half the equation. They are concerned with their current previous derrogetory items. They want to know about all of their late payments, judgements, or even foreclosures. More importantly, they are only concerned with removing this negative items from their report. While this is an important aspect of credit repair, it is only half of the equation! In addition to removing negative items, you must also build up your credit profile with positive items! Undoing old damage is one step, but creating a new foundation with good items is also necessary to acheive a maximum score. To do this, I always reccomend secured credit cards. Secured cards function very similarly to regular credit cards. They are issued as a recognizab...

I've always been a huge fan of transparancy. When I deal with any kind of company, I like to know who I'm dealing with. It's nice to know who owns a business, in addition to the names and job titles of the people you might interact with when dealing with that business. Because of that, I've taken some time to make my own company, National Credit Fixers, more transparent. I created a page on The NCF Team, which showcases all of my employees. Better yet, it breaks everyone down by department, so clients have a better idea of who does what, and how my company really runs.    I think my customers will appreciate it - do you guys feel the same way?   :)     MattToll Free: 888-NCFIXER (623-4937)Toll Free Fax: 888-FAX-4020 (329-4020)Local: 860-282-6181281 Hartford Turnpike Ste 500   Vernon CT ...

Working in credit repair, I deal with a lot of misinformation and misconceptions about credit every day. By far the most common misconception is the idea that paying off a collection account is a 'catch-all', complete fix. This could not be farther from the truth! The fact is,  It is the event of having a collection account that is damaging your credit report → not whether or not the collection account has a balance owed. So, simply paying off a collection account will show the account on your report as paid - but it won't raise your score! That isn't to say that you shouldn't pay off your collection accounts. Certainly it has its benefits, such as stopping the persistant efforts and calls of your collectors! But to really improve your credit score, you need to have a professional credi...

I have been using the National Credit Fixers name for some time, and recently even applied for a trademark! The US patent office granted my request - I guess the length of time that you use a title for carries a lot of weight in the process!   But then I was curious about all the symbols that you see on a daily basis associated with trademarks. What's up with the TM and ®? I did some research, and as far as I can figure out they are different. The TM should be used before you get the trademark registered, while the ® can be used once you are registered with the patent office. So I can use the ®! But should I? Does it look better to add this symbol to correspondance, business cards, website, etc? Or is it only good for certain uses?   What do you guys think?   :)     MattToll Free: 888-N...
