I was almost finished w/ my lunch...was reading Active Rain posts...and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a roach on the wall at the end of the booth. And, yes, it was a ROACH!  How do I know???? Because years ago I used to work on Black Flag and I know way to much about roaches...I can even identify many of the species.  This was the German cockroach - the most common here.  Thankfully these are much smaller than then the American Cockroach or Madagascar ones...yuck. Anyway, I was polite and whispered to the person behind the counter the issue and she got someone to take care of it.  They then told me my next meal would be free.  But, I'm not so sure I want to go back there again.

Airlines Could Be GREEN With Standby’s.   Do you have a family emergency, a funeral, retiree with free time or can travel any day of the week? Do you think the airlines would like to have full flights seven days a week?  Lately I have noticed that that many flights are not fully booked. Why not sell those seats at discounted standby rates. The airlines would benefit the public would benefit, and you would maximize the use of the plane that would in theory minimize wasted fuel and resources. Let’s look at this. You can fly from NYC to Florida round trip for under $250 round trip. So it stands to reason if a flight from NYC to somewhere on the east coast should be comparably within reason, every airport has different costs. Now let say a day or two before the flight is to leave there are ...

Yesterday, on my way to an appointment, I got pulled over by the police.  I was surprised because I couldn't think of anything I had done wrong.  I wasn't speeding and hadn't gone through a red light. So, believe it or not, I got pulled over for holding my GPS in my hand and looking down at it.  I had lost the suction cup thing a while back and I was told not to use this anyway because people look for those marks on your dashboard and if they see them they will break into your car and steal your GPS. I asked the officer what I was supposed to do and he said either get a new suction cup or don't use the GPS.  (Personally, I think not using the GPS is more dangerous as you are trying to find your way, but I wasn't abt to argue as he was deciding whether or not to give me a ticket). Then, ...

On February 10 a New York Times writer did a great write up on Shippan Point.  He really gets into why this is such a great and different waterfront community and why everyone loves living there calling it very "down to earth" with a great mix of people.  He covers pricing of the homes, schools, commuting and a bit of history as well.  If you would like to read the full article, point your browser here. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/13/realestate/13living.html?_r=1&hp If you would like to know more about this great community, feel free to contact me.  I live there!
