It Must be a great Restaurant, Look Who Hangs out There The front of the Sam the Clam’s restaurant on the Meriden-Waterbury Rd in Southington CT has definite traffic stoppers, especially for someone new to the area. There’s Jake and Elwood, those famous Blues Brothers, the one and only Marilyn, and of course a seafood restaurant would need to have a sea captain, so there’s Captain Hook.       Sam the Clam has been on this spot for what seems like forever. The food has always been good and abundant, service is quick and for those summer nights, there’s an outside covered patio for dining al fresco. The decorations at the front of the restaurant, do get attention and they look so life-like as well. This day, I just had to stop, and lunch was great as well.   It Must be a great Restaurant,...

Don't You Think the Water is a Little Cold?   While showing properties earlier today, I passed by a pond that should have been well frozen over by now. We’ve had such a mild winter so far that, anyone thinking of ice fishing has had to wait or just go further north. This time last year we were into such a deep freeze that those geese would have been on top of feet of snow atop an ice capped lake.   The geese in the middle of the water don’t seem to mind a bit and with no ice anywhere on the pond they have free wadding, but I’ll bet there webs are chilled. Don't You Think the Water is a Little Cold?

I have a serious case of "survivor's guilt".  There are still so many people here in Connecticut without electricity after Satruday night's freakish October snow storm.  I hate to admit this but, at my house we never lost power and I can't help feeling terribly guilty about that.   How did we get so lucky? Why couldn't more people be so fortunate?  Of course we did lose our phone, internet and cable, but how could I dare complain about that (especially since we had it back by Tuesday morning).  At least we had electricity, heat and hot water. I was on Queen Street in Southington today and I was shocked to see the number of stores and businesses that are STILL without electricity and/or phone service.  It would seem logical to me that businesses would be the FIRST to be restored.  The lo...
