Another Major Snow Storm in Norwalk, CT For those of us who live on the East Coast, you are already aware that we got slammed, once again, with snow.  Actually, I really like the snow; it's the aftermath that is frustrating and not particularly attractive - slushy, brown snow is not appealing.   This photo was taken just after the sun had come up and the snowplows had already been working overtime.  I couldn't sleep with the anticipation of how much snow would arrive in the middle of the night and the amount of shoveling necessary to clear the driveway. Weather forecasters can, oftentimes, get us all worked up about the 'disaster' that is approaching.  This time, however, their report was fairly accurate; but everyone was prepared and handled it well.     Let's keep our fingers crossed ...

Love Affair With Bridges in South Norwalk, CT (SoNo) What can I say, I love SoNo!  This enclave of Norwalk known as South Norwalk aka SoNo has so much history (incorporated in 1870) such great museums, the Maritime Aquarium, IMAX theater, fabulous restaurants, annual festivals, the Norwalk Harbor and Long Island Sound, sculling and easy access to NYC from the South Norwalk Metro North Railroad that will take you into 'the' city in one hour. One of the things that intrigues me about SoNo is the architecture. Today, my focus is on the bridges that one can find in the town.  It seems as though every time I'm wandering around SoNo, I'm always snapping additional photos of these wonderful, inspiring, eye-catching structures. This particular bridge passes around the Maritime Aquarium.  It has...

Painting Stirring Ceiling Heights Karen Haas, Owner, CertaPro Painters® of Norwalk, CT shares her insight on choosing painting ceilings and towering walls.   In order to decorate soaring walls, ceilings or unusual angles in many newer homes you will need a strong sense of colors and a lot of imagination. You can highlight existing architectural elements and add new, striking accents that will transform these elevated spaces from ordinary to extraordinary.   There are many design possibilites of the ‘high life’ and you can open your home to potential for drama in virtually any room. Soaring ceiling heights will enliven the spirit but beware of the drying heat. WOW I Just Saved Over $100 on My Electric Bill. The state of Connecticut is allowing 3rd party electric suppliers to sell you electricity. But let the buyer beware, some companies are using low teaser rates for a short term and then jack up the price 20%, 30% and even over 50% of what the utility company charges. I just saved over $100 by switching out of Viridian Energy and just using the utility company. You can save even more by going to another third party electric supplier but read the fine print so you do not get a surprise increase of your electric bill.  Viridian Energy operates in 7 states currently Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts.     The above example is based on 2000 kWh usage/month prices from August 7, 2013 at www.energize...
