The average price of homes sold was $383K; the median $325K. The highest average price was reached in July at $574K, when only 12 homes were sold. THIS YEAR, THANKSGIVING IN NEW FAIRFIELD, CT WAS BEGINNING TO FEEL A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS....   It was beginning to feel a lot like Christmas... in New Fairfield, Connecticut, this past November, right before Thanksgiving,  and probably in the surrounding areas as well... and in more ways than one.      Outside, it was a veritable winter wonderland, with thick, wet snow coming down profusely. We were told four to six inches, but who knew, could be more? Temperatures were dipping and it was very gloomy, brightened only by the white beauty. The silence of the falling snow was serene, as usual. Of course, the retail industry was fully "in cahoots" with the weather - Christmas items started appearing long before Halloween was over, even along with sometimes drastic sale promotions. HOLIDAY SPIRIT IN NEW FAIRFIELD, CT     Those of us who live near New York City are certainly spoiled by the grandeur, lavishness and opulence of the elaborate holiday decorations the City undergoes every year. The most famous is probably the enormous Rockefeller Center Christmas tree that towers over the skating rink plaza. The lighting ceremony in early December typically draws thousands of spectators. Similarly, the huge snowflake of lights above the intersection of 5th Avenue and 57th Street is unparalleled. The Empire State Building glows with the colors of the season.     New Fairfield, CT Public Library Is Having a Huge Book Sale!     The New Fairfield Friends of the Library organization is holding its annual books sale this week-end and Monday, September 6th, 7th and 8th. The sale started out outside, but the rain drove it into the library building, where it is continuing on the second floor.    The sale includes not only books, but also puzzles, games, CD’s and DVD’s, all generously donated by local patrons. Proceeds are used to help sponsor various programs at the New Fairfield Library.      On Saturday, the larger books are $1.00; smaller ones only 50 cents.
