Mead park in New Canaan CT  is a very special place.    If you just want to relax by the pond, there are tons of Canada geese to entertain you, and if you bring chunks of bread, you might even see some ducks lurking nearby.....     This is one of the hundreds of reasons that real estate in New Canaan CT is so dear and pricey.    Lots of blogging to do on this wonderful town....   There is an athletic field in Mead Park near the pond, and always some sort of athletic event going on.  There just happened to be an adult men's league baseball game the day I was there to get lunch at one of the best deli's around.     The men of New Canaan are quite serious about their game, and must perhaps have played college ball in their youth.     It is a great outlet for the stresses of the week.    T...

The pollutants listed in this guide have been shown to cause the health effects mentioned. However, it is not necessarily true that the effects noted occur at the pollutant concentration levels typically found in the home. In many cases, our understanding of the pollutants and their health effects is too limited to determine the levels at which the listed effects could occur.   RADON:Sources: Earth and rock beneath home; well water; building materials. Health Effects: No immediate symptoms. Estimated to contribute to between 7,000 and 30,000 lung cancer deaths each year. Smokers are at higher risk of developing radon-induced lung cancer. New Canaan, CT Real Estate - Foreclosed and Bank Owned Purchasing a home at a foreclosure auction has many risks to a potential buyer and in most cases the bank will bid and take possession of the property at auction. The property is then referred to as bank owned, REO (real estate owned) or foreclosed property. To search the CT MLS listings visit New Canaan CT MLS listings. A home owner may attempt a "short sale" whereby the bank agrees to accept less than the mortgage balance based on the owner's hardship and financial status. Obtaining approval can be a long and difficult process. Additionally, there is no assurance that the lender will accept an offer at or above the listed price. Bank-owned and short sale listings are often marketed with a real estate agent and placed in the Connec...

Property assessments drawing concern Written by Laura Kenyon    Wednesday, January 21, 2009 Updated: 11:18 a.m. Thursday Residents seeking to discuss their assessment notices with the town's appraisal firm, J.F. Ryan, Inc., have expressed difficulties getting through on the phone, according to First Selectmen Jeb Walker. "The problem is technical," Walker said in an emergency e-mail Wednesday. "Verizon is aware of the problem and is working to repair it quickly. I understand the frustration this situation is causing." As a result of this problem, the town has extended the revaluation deadline from Thursday, January 29 to Friday, February 6. This does not affect the taxes that are due January 2009, and must be postmarked no later than Monday, February 2. "If Verizon is unable to resolve...
