  This is the final week to see the third part of The Bells of Dublin At The Ivoryton Playhouse.  This is an excellent play to go see just before Christmas even if you have not seen the first two parts. In this third part Paddy Bell and his family close the Bells of Dublin Pub for the holidays, and travel to New York City for Christmas.  Upon arriving in the Big Apple Paddy and his family meet Maggie a bag lady who roams the streets around 50th and Broadway.  The play centers around Maggie settling in the doorway of O'Lunney's Pub for Christmas Eve, and sharing her story with all who stop to listen.   The Ivoryton Playhouse is well known for presenting top quality musicals performed by local performers.  This month local residents will once again be treated to an exciting musical when the Ivoryton Playhouse Present Memphis From August 5th To 30th. Memphis is a 2010 Tony Award winning musical about my favorite musical period, the 1950's, and the birth of Rock'n Roll.  One of the major players in giving birth, and promoting Rock'n Roll was a radio host by the name of DJ Huey Calhoun.  Calhoun had a fascination with the music of Felicia Farrell an R&B up-and-coming star.  Memphis is based on their relationship from the time DJ meets Farrell on Beale Street.   If you are of my generation and grew up listening and watching George Burns, the play Say Goodnight, Gracie At The Ivoryton Playhouse, In Ivorton, CT. is a must see.  Say Goodnight, Gracie was the third longest running solo performance show on Broadway, and now it will be here in Ivoryton, Connecticut from October 29th to November 16th. George Burns "was one of the few entertainers whose career successfully spanned vaudeville, film, radio, and television", and made audiences laugh for eight generations.  I will never forget how he would light up a cigar, and calmly proceed to make me laugh until my side hurt.   I don't know how many of those reading this blog grew up listening to the music from the "King".  I not only listened to everyone of his songs, I went to see his movies, and purchase many of his records.  So the play All Shook Up At The Ivoryton Playhouse, In Ivoryton, CT July 2-27 is a real special opportunity to bring back some of my favorite childhood memories.   Presents             Fingers & Toes  At The Ivoryton Playhouse June 4-22, 2014 featuring Rick Faugno who was voted “Las Vegas Best Lounge Act”.  Fingers & Toes is a must see for anyone who loves a good comedy.   Fingers & Toes is about a tap dancer Dustin "Toes" MacGrath, and pianist Tristan "Fingers" St. Claire.  MacGrath and St. Claire have talked a major Broadway Producer into coming to see their boy meets girl love theme show in a couple of weeks.  However, there are a few problems, the biggest of which is they have not written the play yet.  Besides this little oversight they do not have a girl for the leading femal part in the play and neither Fingers or Toes has a clue about love.  As if these were not big enough issues, things get further complicated after Fingers and Toes hi... 05/29/2014
