A question that frequently comes up in my practice is what to do about an IRS Levy in Hartford, CT? When a taxpayer fails to respond to IRS requests for either missing tax return or to provide financial information to help settle an outstanding tax debt, the IRS frequently resorts to enforced collection activities, ie. levy. A levy is literally the taking, or seizing, of a taxpayer’s property or income.  There are 2 types of levies: a regular levy and a continuous levy.  So what should you do about an IRS Levy in Hartford, CT? A regular levy is a levy that attaches to property owned by the taxpayer at that moment.  This can include:   ·      Bank account balances ·      Investment account balances ·      Amounts owed to the taxpayer by vendors or contractors   The B...

Connecticut Foreclosure Mediation Foreclosure has become all too common place in today's economy.  If you or someone you know is in foreclosure than you need to seek professional help.  This is not the time to attempt the "do it yourself" attitude.  There is simply too much riding on the outcome.  But where do you turn to for help? Attorney Sarah Poriss.  I'll vouch for her as a professional because I have seen her in action.  Not only is she the best I have seen in this areana but she is affordable as well.  Connecticut has a great foreclosure mediation program for people who have been served foreclosure papers.  Sarah Poriss, helps families who are going through this foreclosure process.  She can help you maneuver the system, and find the best solution to your mortgage problem.  Her w...

A blonde was recently fired from an M&M factory for throwing away the Ws. Therefore, she needed a new job to support herself. After going around town asking if anyone needed work done, she found a man who needed a painter."I'm here for the paint job," she said."Alright," said the man. "Here is the paint and your brush. I want you to paint my porch behind the house."The blonde immediately went to work painting. Within an hour, she was done and decided to put on a second coating. After she finished, she returned to the man for her pay. She said with satisfaction, "I not only completed the job, but I even put on two coats of paint! By the way, that isn't a porsche out back. How to settle a collection account: Part 1 of a 3 part series So you have an account on your credit report that shows in collection with a balance.  Now what? Step one is to "validate" the debt.  If you hire a professional credit repair company, make sure they are performing this service for you.  If you are doing it yourself then follow these instructions. You will want to send, via certified mail (don't cheap out on me), a letter to the collection company asking them to validate the debt.  You will find the address for the collection company somewhere on your credit report (different credit reports have the information in different spots).  You letter should ask them for: A copy of the contract that created the account; A list of any goods or services that were provided and proof of d...

Have you heard the story about the famous art collector? He was strolling around downtown when he noticed a mangy cat lapping milk from a saucer in the doorway of a store. Many might ignore the scene, but something caused him to look a second time. Almost instantly he recognized the saucer as an extremely old and very valuable piece of pottery, and so he decided to purchase the saucer. Casually he walked into the store and up to the storeowner, where he offered to buy the cat for two dollars. "I'm sorry, but the cat isn't for sale," the storeowner replied. "Please, I need a cat around the house to catch mice. I'll pay you twenty dollars for that cat," the collector said. The owner looked thoughtful for a moment, and then said "Sold." After the famous art collector had received the cat f...

An extraordinarily handsome man decided he had the responsibility to marry the perfect woman so they could produce beautiful children beyond comparison. With that as his mission he began searching for the perfect woman. Shortly thereafter he met a farmer who had three stunning, gorgeous daughters that positively took his breath away. So he explained his mission to the farmer, asking for permission to marry one of them. The farmer simply replied, "They're lookin' to get married, so you came to the right place. Look 'em over and pick the one you want." The man dated the first daughter. The next day the farmer asked for the man's opinion. "Well," said the man, "she's just a weeeeee bit, not that you can hardly notice...pigeon-toed." The farmer nodded and suggested the man date one of the o...

If you are looking for some inspiration - check out these two heroes: Tonight officers Jimmy Barrett and Brian Bowsza of the Hartford police department entered a burning building and rescued a resident from the fire.  The man was suffering from a seizure and was unable to get out of the building on his own.  It is unclear whether the seizure was brought on by the fire or started before. The police officers arrived on the scene before firefighters and just responded without regard for their own personal safety!  Remember Police do not wear the safty clothes that firefighters wear. To the two hereos tonight: we salute you! :)MattToll Free: 888-NCFIXER (623-4937)Toll Free Fax: 888-FAX-4020 (329-4020)Local: 860-282-6181330 Roberts Street 4th FloorEast Hartford, CT 06108
