A Gloomy Day  in Goshen CT It was a very gloomy day yesterday, but the fall colors still stood out.  I was surprised to see this farm stand just pop out next to the road with probably 5 different colors of pumpkins.  I do not know much about pumpkins, but I thought each color looked like a different variety.   This drive was very nostalgic for me, since I used to live nearby years ago.                           A Day in Goshen CT

I have never been to a Rodeo, and was not aware the Connecticut had a Rodeo until yesterday when one of my co-workers told me of that is up in her area of Connecticut.  Apparently Goshen, CT has had a Rodeo the past four years, and according to her it is a great event and draws a large attendance. Besides Bull Riding and the events listed in the flyer above there will also be other Rodeo events like Cattle Roping, and Barrel Racing.  I am not into Truck Pulls, but seeing cars getting smashed up in a Demolition Derby would be something that I can get into.  Goshen is a little bit of a ride for me, but I would love to take a ride up there this weekend. If you have not made any plans for Father's Day, this might be something that good old Dad might enjoy doing, and the money raised by t...

Here are some interesting facts about the real estate market in Goshen, CT: In 2006 a total of 63 homes were sold in Goshen. So far in 2007 a total of 48 homes have sold. Only 15 less than in 2006. Still, that's a 25% decrease in sales     volume. At Woodridge Lake, where the main office of my company Portfolio Properties Group is located, the sales stats are as follows:In 2006 a total of 43 homes were sold.So far in 2007 (Dec 2nd) a total of 20 homes have sold! Over 50% fewer homes have sold this year at Woodridge Lake. Here in affluent Litchfield County the sub-prime mortgage crisis has not really affected the real estate market.I think the decrease in sales can be attributed to several factors:-Many of the homebuyers at a resort community like Woodridge Lake are 2nd home, vacation hom...

It seems to me that the current buyer drought is likely to end in a sudden downpour as bottom feeders are sensing an approaching end to falling prices. On a recent day here in Woodridge Lake, several of my old contacts phoned to say they were interested in looking into some of the homes they'd previously seen but turned away from during the spring and early summer.Local prices fell about 5% during the first half of the year and just recently I've been watching the bigger homes dropping by up to 10%.Let that be portent of good times ahead for the agents that can stay the course.

Goshen, CT, has made the Top 100 list of the most desirable places to live, according to the real estate industry website Relocate-America. The site takes into account housing opportunities as well as education, environment, economic and other quality of life factors. I was interviewed this week by the Litchfield Enquirer, where I spoke about the things that have made Goshen an increasingly desirable destination. As I told the reporter, when I first came to Goshen, there there were no traffic lights, just the roundabout in the center of town. I always said, if they put in a light, I'll leave. And 33 years later, there's still no traffic light. The town, the state, and the Goshen Land Trust have done a tremendous job with zoning to help Goshen retain its rural character from its days as a ...

Last month, I brokered a record-breaking sale of one of the original building lots at Woodridge Lake in Goshen, CT, the community I like to call Connecticut’s private Club Med. The 8/10ths of an acre parcel, which was purchased around 1970 for just under $20,000 by Dr. Bernard Zuckerman, recently sold for $850,000.The lot was sold to Stephen Warren of The Warren Group, the company that publishes real estate data and financial information. He plans to build on spec an 8,700-square-foot, classic New England style house to be sold for around $3.7 million. The house will feature every modern amenity imaginable. We've had a lot of investment bankers come out here, to Woodridge Lake and Goshen. One of the top guys at Google has a house out here, too, but I can't say anything too specific about...

From time to time, I will post properties that I think will be of interest to a national audience. This contemporary home in Goshen, CT, would make a wonderful retreat. An architectural tour de force of 5,200 square feet, this outstanding Contemporary is surrounded by one of northwestern Connecticut's lovliest settings.   The five bedroom home includes three and one half marble baths, two Jacuzzis, three fireplaces, a walk-through greenhouse on the second floor, and two complete kitchens. Expansive lake vistas unfold from virtually every room, and right outside is an award winning heated in ground pool.  Enjoy Country Club living at its best! Four sandy beaches; marina; boating and fishing; 8 tennis courts; (two Har-Tru courts) a 12,500 square foot clubhouse with Wi-Fi internet access, ...
