An article in the Connecticut Post states that the Black Rock train station could be up and running by the end of 2010, although there may not be an enclosed commuter waiting area.  It appears that the Department of Transportation (DOT) is taking over the project from Black Rock Realty and the Town of Fairfield.  There will be shelters and platforms, a pedestrian access to both sides of the tracks, (1,200-1,500 spaces), and a commuter drop-off area. For more information visit the Connecticut Post website at www.connpost.com and search for "Fairfield Metro Center" From www.blackrockonline.org  Black Rock's Community Blog

Bridgeport is giving us a mixed message.  There have been 288 Single Family homes sold through August 31st of this year.  This is up 9% over last year and is a very good sign.  It is still below the 363 homes sold in 2007 by 21%.   The bad news is that the Average Selling Price is $153,848 so far this year.  This is a drop of 27% from last year and is 40% below the 2007 Average of $258,048.   There are currently 348 Homes for sale in Bridgeport ranging in price from $34,900 to $2,995,000.  To view these listings, just visit www.tetreau.com   This report is based on data provided by the Greater Fairfield County MLS.

My wife and I had the pleasure of Father Peter Towsley's company for dinner this past Thursday evening, he reminded me that the Lobster Fest is only a few short weeks away. St. Anne's Annual Lobster Fest is always a good time. What's better than a lobster fest with cold beer and wine overlooking the water with good friends. The Lobster Fest is happening Saturday, August 8th, 3 - 9 pm at the Norden Club on Seabright Avenue in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport   TICKETS: Adult Admission is $25 before August 4th and $30 after • Children $5 All tickets can be purchased at St. Ann’s rectory or Harborview Market. Adult admission includes one lobster dinner and the choice of beer or wine. Child admission includes the choice of a hamburger or hotdog, and soda. FA C E PA I N T I N G • P I Ñ A...

Members of the Ash Creek Conservation Association gathered at Harborview Market on July 18, 2009 to celebrate their latest victory in protecting the Ash Creek tidal estuary. Gail Robinson, President of the Ash Creek Conservation Association delivered the following words of thanks to those who contributed to this latest accomplishment: First of all, on behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I want to thank all of you, our members, for your enthusiastic support of our efforts to protect the Ash Creek tidal estuary. You’ve given a lot of your time, effort and money over the years and now we are now reaping the benefits. Conservation attempts were made with regard to Ash Creek via the first Ash Creek Association on Black Rock (1967-1987). At that time there were not a lot of laws to prot...

Knowing was released March 20, 2009 starring Nocholas Cage with a PG-13 rating. I give it a thumbs up, 3 and a half stars out of 4.  All around a pretty good movie.  This movie had more of a horror element to it than I expected.  When I say horror I am referring to an Alfred Hitchcock type of horror not a Friday the 13th type of horror.  A good comparison for this movie would be the classic Alfred Hitchcock thrillers. :)Matt Toll Free: 888-NCFIXER (623-4937) Toll Free Fax: 888-FAX-4020 (329-4020) Local: 860-282-6181 330 Roberts Street 4th Floor East Hartford, CT 06108 credit repair service

The Gallery at Black Rock is pleased to present Directional Prada, Peter Konsterlies' one man show opening July 17, 2009. Konsterlies work in Dirrectional Prada explores the themes of branding and its relevance to contemporary artists and relates to the need for artists to have a "brand" to continue doing what they love. He seeks to delve into what a "Konsterlie painting" is about. Konsterlie's work blends figurative representational line drawing, with abstracted patterns and visual signposts.  The power of pattern and repeated design are hallmarks of the Konsterlie's paintings. He believes strongly in the visual power of repeated pattern.  Gestural paint dripping and directional symbols draw the eye to real and imagined significant details. In several paintings Peter uses anatomical fi...
