Homeowners often lock into an adjustable rate mortgage and find that the interest rate increased and their monthly payments were adjusted to reflect the higher rate. Often they decide to refinance their ARM mortgage with a fixed rate mortgage rate loan, because the payments will stay the same over the term of the loan. It isn’t always easy to qualify for a fixed rate mortgage rate loan; especially if the borrower is presumed a risk due to poor credit or other financial issues. Before you try to qualify for a fixed rate mortgage rate loan it is a good idea to pay off any credit cards that might be taking money away from your monthly budget. Always check with the credit bureaus and get a copy of your credit history. If there are any errors on your credit report, you must address them right...

Located at 282 Greenwood Ave. in Bethel, Connecticut is The Sycamore Restaurant. A unique eating experience where summer Saturday evenings is the time to drive up in your Cherry Coupe or Pickup Truck. Hamburgers at the Sycamore Drive-In are made “French style.” That means that the grill man slaps a thick round circle of beef onto the grill then uses his spatula to flatten it out so far that the edges of the resulting circle are nearly paper thin. As the burger cooks, the middle gets nice and juicy while the circumference turns into a crusty web of beef. You can get it plain, doubled, or topped with all sorts of ingredients but the connoisseur’s choice here is the Dagwood burger. That’s a nice five-ounce patty with cheese and nearly every garnish known to mankind piled into a bun. Beyon...

Bethel, Connecticut, has proposed a $58.7 Million budget for the 2007-2008 fiscal year.  This includes $35.8 Million for the schools and $22.9 Million for the town. This represents an approximate 3.6% increase to the mill (tax) rate.  Currently, Bethel's mill rate is 27.75, and this proposed budget would increase the mill rate to around 28.75.  A home with an assessed value of $200,000 would see a $200 increase in its property taxes. The proposal calls for one additional police officer, one additional building maintenance employee, and one new part0time position to work for both the assessor's office and the tax collector's office. This budget now goes to the Board of Finance for their approval.  A town meeting will be held in late March for residents to voice their opinions.  The budge...
