Someone stole the mountains  this morning - here is a picture of where Longs peak and the Continental Divide are supposed to be.  We are experiencing some light melting snow.  You can tell from this picture that the clouds are hanging low around here today.  Enjoy the picture.  We are currently experiencing a lot of snow - probably enough of this very wet stuff to close the office in the AM.  Supposed to be 50's by Thursday so it will leave is soon. Don't forget to go to www.MrEstesPark.com for the full story. Have a great day!

Waking up to below zero temperatures and about eight inches of new snow isn't exactly what I was expecting for the first day of Spring 2010.  It did actually warm up nicely today and we melted a lot of the snow, but I thought I share some pictures with you from earlier today. It is such a magical and beautiful place that I'm allowed to live in!  If you look carefully at the last picture you can see the Stanley Hotel throgh the trees off to the right.

Greetings! I have always loved St. Patrick's Day. It's my little brother's birthday...and it was always a fun time to go out and celebrate! As far as the "Luck of the Irish"...those of us that are fortunate enough to live in a great place like Estes Park can consider ourselves lucky every day! Here's to your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...

Estes Park's Golf Course Entrance Sign I had a great day playing in the snow today and the golf course was one of the places that I went that I thought you would enjoy. WARNING SIGNS AT THE GOLF COURSE The warning signs seem to be silently useless with the snow dampening the sounds all around and keeping the golfers inside by the fire or in some other warmer part of the country.  You can see that there are no buckets of balls available today for anyone interested in improving their game. Silent Driving Range at the Golf Course Silenty the range awaits a warmer day when golfers can work in thier drives at the driving range. FAMILIES OF SLEDDERS REPLACE GOLFERS Hope you enjoyed the pictures - have a great week.

Greetings from Estes Park! I thought I would share photos from our third annual "Valentine's Day Road Show" in Estes Park. Jon and Marsha Sypher co-sponsored this event with my company, The Yellow Mailbox Real Estate Services. They provided the barbershop quartet "Senior Moments" and I supplied cookies and handmade Valentine's cards from Estes Park Elementary School students. We stopped at Prospect Park Living Center, then the Estes Park Senior Center, and wrapped things up at the Good Samaritan Village. Everyone had a wonderful time!

Sunday, January 31 is the date for the annual "Frost Giant" races in Estes Park. Here's what their website says..."THE FROST GIANT WILL BE HELD NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER OR REPORTED ROAD CLOSURES!! IN THE EVENT OF TRULY VICIOUS WEATHER (100 MPH WINDS AND -80 DEGREES F), ONLY THE 5K MAY BE RUN. PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL STAFF WILL BE ON-SITE." A bit tongue in cheek, perhaps, but our weather can be anywhere from below zero to fifty degrees this time of the year, you just never know! Click here for a link to the Estes Valley Parks and Recreation Department's website for more info... And here's a link to a youtube video from last year's race. I think the weather will be much nicer tomorrow for the runners!

Greetings from Estes Park! I awoke to a nice surprise this morning...my 14 year old son had whipped up a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls and stashed the dough in the fridge to pop in the oven this morning! He is quite an accomplished baker, that kid. We have lots of very talented home chefs here in town, including Maggie Treadway, wife of the chili champion Barney...who auditioned for a spot in the upcoming Gordon Ramsay "masterchef" reality series, she's made it into the semi-finals! Not to mention the Belgian enginner with an accent and an attitude, Steven, and Big Bob, who can roast two pigs at a time in a roaster the size of a car trailer! Estes Park really is a great place to live...

Greetings from Estes Park! The dates and locations for "Savor Estes Park" were just released...this was a really fun event that premiered last March. Here's how it works...local restaurants offer small portions of specialties and cocktails to go with them for $3.00 per person per location. It's kinda like a restaurant crawl and feels like a locals block party! It happens during the time of the year when we've seen a lot of snow and cold weather and could use a little cabin fever relief. Last year was a blast, and I can't wait for "Savor Estes Park" this year! Click here for details...

Greetings from Estes Park! The First Annual Winter Festival in Estes Park was a lot of fun, and had unusually mild (50's) weather. The organizers had some cool events, like the Chili Cook Off, and a scavenger hunt that sent participants to shops on Elkhorn Avenue for clues...and maybe a little shopping, too! Best of Show in the Chili Cook-Off went to my friend, Barney Treadway...he's a great Estes Park character...a computer tech guy who designs websites, is a oenophile and an excellent cook! (We won't mention his fashion sense...)

Greetings from Estes Park! It was another one of those Thursday mornings where two of the boys need to be at school at 7AM...which means it is dark when we leave the house and the sunrise is starting about the time we get to school. This morning, the sunrise was crazy...the sun was filtering sideways through dark clouds, which made the bright sunlight and dark shadow on the mountain range to the west. It was nature at its best...so beautiful it did not require any special photography or processing, these were just an iphone from a car window!

Greetings from Estes Park! My son came home from school with an assignment to make a poster about themes relating to Martin Luther King, Jr., such as peace and equality. They had a march through the school hallways to demonstrate their committment to these issues. It was the sweetest thing to see...elementary school kids with their posters in the hallway promoting peace, love and equality for everyone. I was happy to be able to do an art project with Chase...he was the art director on this one, and i had big fun in Photoshop with some posterization and adjustment layer effects...

Greetings from Estes Park! We have a fun event coming up this weekend in Estes Park...the first annual Winter Festival featuring a C.A.S.I sanctioned chili cook-off!  Click here for all the details... In spite of the winter theme...we have been enjoying lovely, sunny and mild weather this week, and the event should be a lot of fun! (our temperate weather is one of our favorite local secrets...something about the "Banana Belt of the Mountains"...)

Greetings from Estes Park! The Estes Park Board of REALTORS invited Mike Connolly, President of the "Angels Above Foundation" to speak at our meeting last Thursday. Mike gave a presentation regarding the Estes Park Memorial Observatory that was recently completed. The Observatory is located near the bike path adjacent to the Estes Park High School and provides opportunities for students as well as residents to view the stars and planets at 7522 feet above sea level and in a much darker night time environment than a larger metropolitan area. Click here to view the Estes Park Memorial Observatory website... The observatory is just another reason why Estes Park is a great place to live!

Greetings from Estes Park! I was up bright and early this morning to get some pre-sunrise camera work in. I headed south on HWY 7 toward High Peak Camp to get some shots of Meeker and Long's Peak at sunrise...but I came across this coyote at Lily Lake. I've seen this big guy before in our backyard and he didn't seem concerned at all that I had a camera pointed at him while he was trying to sniff out breakfast. That is one of my favorite things about living in Estes Park...to see wildlife like that up close!

Greetings from Estes Park! I ran across an interesting blog in Twitter this morning. Terry White, who is an instructor for the Adobe Creative Suite, was discussing home printers. He posed the question as to how many people used their printer as much as they used to...primarily relating to printing photos. 31% of the respondants said they use their printer all the time, 29% said their use is decreasing and 31% said they hardly ever use their printers anymore! The way we share data has changed so much over the last decade...we now post photos online more frequently than we print them out. Terry also mentioned an article in the Huffington Post that listed 12 items whose uses have become essentially obsolete in the past decade. Among the items were: Land line phones, fax machines and classi...

Greetings from Estes Park! We were awakened this morning by a soft sunrise with wispy clouds over Mummy Range...this photo is looking northwest from Estes Park straight over the mountain toward my friend, Mary Douglas, in Red Feather Lakes. I love seeing her photos of the same mountains from the opposite side! This view was especially amazing on New Year's Eve with the "Blue Moon"...it was so bright that my photos looked just like daylight. (that will be the next photo project...to figure out the twilight settings on this camera) Have a wonderful Sunday and get ready to go back at it tomorrow!

Greetings from Estes Park! OK, we've put it off long enough...you know, evaluating 2009, setting goals and making resolutions for 2010. While it is important to set goals that are specific and measurable, the most important thing is to JUST DO IT! That's right...take the first step, make forward progress, do something better today than you did yesterday. (like maybe a healthy breakfast) I'm betting that if we all can be a little better every day, that we can look back on our 2010 goals and resolutions and say, I DID IT! Have a wonderful, happy, healthy and productive 2010!

Continueing with Buel Porters artwork and Christmas designs and displays that he donated to Estes Park, here is "The Old Lady Who Lived In A Shoe".  This piece is about 20 feet in height and is located near Timberline Medical Center on Highway 7. If you have not been to Estes Park during the Christmas season, you should put it on your "To Do" list.
